Hill Street Tai Hwa

I asked my friend who is working in SG to try a very famous Bak Chor Mee there so 3 of them went yesterday Sun 28.mar.2021 and sent me the photos. I will put them here so that if I ever go SG again, I will refer here to see what I must eat.

Bak Chor Mee (Mee pok) with lots of ingredients. I think this is a dry version.

They queued for 40 minutes.

This is the stall.

A bowl of deep fried sole fish.

Food for all 3 of them.

*** Recommended food in SG ***

Big prawn noodle.

From this Whitley Rd Big Prawn noodle stall.

Dry prawns Mee pok from another stall. I need to get the stall name from them and update it here.

Updated on 30.mar.21: The eatery is Don Don Prawn noodles.

Beach Road Prawn Mee, SG on Sat 3.apr.21 but prefer Don Don Prawn noodles style.

Storefront.

Zhi Yuan Coffee Shop, SG.

Add more prawns to the prawns Mee. Ok ok only, whatever that means.

  3. Hill Street, very near my college in Singapore in 1973 but I do not recall eating at any coffee shop in the vicinity. Can remember Swee Kee chicken rice and Middle Road only - none of the rest has left a lasting image even though I did get to enjoy quite a lot of nice stuff there. Those days, not like Singapore today - hard to hunt down the good ones now.

    1. This stall is in a food court I believe, not a coffee shop. Guessing only because I have not been there.

  7. The prawns look so darn huge and definitely this must be delicious judging by the number of patrons.

    1. The queue is for the bak choree, not for the prawns.

  8. Would have thought these dishes would be common here since SG is nearby only. But still quite a few SG common food aren't available here.

    1. Surely there will be? Top on my list would be the dry beef noodles - closest I have tried are in Seremban market and Yut Kee.
