Aliff Corner Eatery

On Saturday 24.jun.2023, he went to Swee Hing to buy wanton Mee trotters which both elderlies love to eat and ytf curry gravy for the Elderlies' lunch while we ate brunch at Aliff Corner Eatery which is behind Swee Hing coffee shop. In the evening, went to Fatty Mixed Rice Sri Petaling to buy chapfan dinner for the Elderlies.

9.23 am - hot cham drink MYR 2.3+, nasi lemak fried chicken MYR 8+ which we requested for no sambal. It can be said that we always order this chicken nasi lemak.

9.33 am - roti telur bawang aka onion egg paratha MYR 3.3+ which both of us like to eat so whenever we want to eat this dish, we will visit this eatery.

9.50 am - a satisfying brunch for two pax at a very good price of MYR 14.40 nett only. Now that this eatery is popular, we need to wait for almost 20 minutes for our food.

9.55 am - shop front, Aliff Corner Eatery which used to be known as Ajimal.

4.54 pm - chapfan no rice dinner for two pax from Fatty Mixed Rice Sri Petaling. I chose this piece of fried fish MYR 8 nett. He bought 3 packs of chapfan, 2 without rice and 1 with rice for MYR 27 nett. I like this piece of deep fried fish and feels that the price is reasonable.

Roti Telur Bawang

On Monday 15.aug.22, went out to buy food for ourselves: pork yeemi soup from Swee Hing coffee shop and roti telur bawang from Aliff eatery which is at the back of Swee Hing coffee shop.

9.44 am - he felt like eating roti telur bawang so we went to buy it. This dhall gravy which we ate with the nasi lemak is from the roti canai telur bawang which tastes nutty and full of spice taste but is not spicy hot so I like it.

Nasi lemak deep fried chicken thigh with one fried egg at an estimated price of MYR 8.40 because I paid MYR 18 for:
1. 2x roti canai telur bawang which the menu says costs MYR 3.30 per piece
2. Nescafe hot drink which the menu says costs MYR 3 per drink
3. Nasi Lemak fried chicken thigh - I didn't look at the price for this item from the menu.

9.44 am - his roti telur bawang.

4.24 pm - My roti telur bawang which I ate one quarter only and kept the remaining roti for another day. The roti is doughy and soft so I like to eat it with the nutty dhall gravy.

3.56 pm - my meal of chapfan dishes from Sunday which is the day before and some frozen rice from Saturday.

New Wing Hup Sri Petaling

On Wednesday 8.jun.22, went out to buy food despite the rain in the morning. He watched a utub video called Best Foodie Haunts in Sri Petaling so he created a quest to follow this food trail and recruited me to join this quest.

8.13 am - that is how I ended up at this New Wing Hup coffee shop on one wet early morning to buy wanton noodles, roti telur bawang and Yao zhar kwai. NuxV is familiar with this coffee shop too.

Bought 1 pack of dry thin wanton noodles and 1 pack of dry broad wanton noodles at a total of MYR 14 nett. Didn't take any photos when he ate the broad wanton noodles for dinner. This wanton noodles is recommended by the utub because it includes 5 to 6 cubes of crispy deep fried lard in the wanton noodles.

8.14 am - on usual days, this morning market in front of the coffee shop is bustling with people so lucky for me, there is very less customers on a wet morning but pity the sellers so I bought 3 navel 3107 Sunkist oranges for MYR 3 each from an elderly couple.

Before that we stopped by the roadside of Jalan Perlak to buy soy drink and taufufa from a motorcycle with a cart at the side. This elderly man sells hot non sweet soy drink at only MYR 2 for a big bag and hot non sweet tofufa at MYR 2 for a 400 ml plastic container portion. Very affordable food. Brought own containers for the soy drink, brown sugar syrup and taufufa.

9.28 am - 3 portions of taufufa in this container from home so it costs MYR 2 x 3 and taste like homemade tofufa. Totally not sweet. Very acceptable for this price.

Fried snacks from a stall in front of New Wing Hup coffee shop. Yao zhar kwai to go with the hot soy drink. Bought 2 Yao zhar kwai, 3 red bean fried dough and 1 savoury fried dough 5-spice taste with sesame seeds at MYR 1.50 each.

Roti telur bawang at MYR 3 with dhall gravy. Bought 2 pieces so it is MYR 6 for thick doughy not salty roti and gravy. Good for those who prefer non salty food.

Since we have been buying takeaway food ourselves and not all places accept cashless payments we need to topup as each outing costs about one piece of dark blue paper at least if not more. Went to a machine to get the topup so walked past Jazz Cafe and turned back to walk in to buy nasi lemak.

12.07 noon - shared this nasi lemak for lunch. I am not sure why there is broccoli in this nasi lemak but I am not complaining. The portion on the left costs MYR 6.50 and the pieces of fried chicken on the right costs MYR 3.50 so in total, it is a red piece of paper.

Walked past Tong Kee bakery which is now known by its initials only - TK bakery. Since it is early morning, there is no queue so went in to select some pastries.

Total is MYR 19 for:
1. 3 x MYR 2.60 for egg tarts made with lard
2. 1 pork siew bao at MYR 3
3. 2 x MYR 4.10 for lotus paste salted egg pastry.
He likes the lard egg tart and would choose them over Nam Heong egg tarts since this price is lower.

Buharry Briyani Bistro

On Monday 4.apr.22, ordered one food delivery for ourselves for the whole day.

12 noon - bought all these food for lunch and dinner for two pax for the whole day.

1 pm - only managed to take this photo of the briyani rice which is very flavourful, full of spices. There is one whole hard boiled egg in this container.

We ate the nasi lemak with chicken for lunch and the roti canai with briyani rice for dinner. Very flavourful food. Can buy again.

Semi-Monthly Brunch

The two of us have the above brunch: total MYR 9.50 nett (hopefully they do not increase this price in the near future) about twice a month at Ajimal Razim coffee shop. There are two AR outlets in Sri Petaling and we always go to the one occupying a corner shop lot located near the New Restaurant Ipoh Chicken Rice Restaurant .

Nasi Lemak (Rice cooked with Coconut Milk) MYR6 nett - in this case, the rice is cooked  with cardamom too and ginger so I find the rice tastes very good with a piece of fried chicken and egg that we requested for the yolk to be fully cooked or else it would be a sunny-side up egg.

We also asked for the sambal (sambal is a condiment typically made from red chilis and belacan - fermented ground prawns dried in blocks) to be omitted as we find the sambal portion to be too much and its taste is sweet when we prefer it to be more spicy than sweet.

Roti Telur (Paratha Bread with Egg) - MYR2 nett. We used to order a glass of hot Nescafe Tarik (tarik means to pull) that costs us MYR2 nett but now we order a glass of hot Cham (coffee mixed with Tea) to lower the price to MYR1.50 nett. Nowadays I ask for all dips (dhall, fish curry) for the roti telur to be omitted and just eat it plain because I want to cut down on my calorie and sugar intake from this meal.

al fresco

Guess the price of all the above food? Only MYR4! The Teh Tarik (pulled tea) drink is MYR1 and each of the egg prata (roti telur) costs MYR1.50 only. So so affordable.

But you need to sit under the trees by the roadside like in the above photo. Could you eat in comfort?

There are a few stalls serving food in this area, along the walkway of some shops which have not opened in the early morning yet.

On another visit, we ordered a bowl of fish slices with meehoon in clear noodle soup with lots of ginger in the soup for only MYR7 with many slices of fish meat (Sang Yu aka haruan aka snakehead fish - not dory). Delicious! This bowl would be more than MYR10++ elsewhere.

Maggi Mee Goreng (Stir fried instant noodle) - MYR2.50 nett
Guess we could still find affordable food if we are not picky about the ambiance.

Egg pancake?

Roti telur or roti prata with egg - MYR2.20 - I sometimes eat it like how I eat bread - just roll it up like the photo above and eat it without any gravy or sauce so that I can eat it at my seat at work while still typing on the keyboard. Filling and with no mess.
