Bari Uma

Ajitama (seasoned soft-boiled egg) Ramen - MYR25.90++ (MYR30.20 nett). One whole soft boiled egg (not cut) is included. Will satisfy any Ramen lovers.

Salmon Rice - MYR15.90++ (MYR18.55 nett). Only for small eaters as the portion is quite small. Deep fried garlic lovers will like this rice.

Total Bill is MYR52.25 nett for 2 pax (dinner).

Bari Uma at Jaya Shopping Centre.

Budget pasta

Budget food so it is served in a cardboard box with a plastic fork for dined-in customers. All to be thrown away after they have been used. Guess this will be my only time eating here.

Pasta of the Day (chicken) - MYR5 nett only (on offer - normal price is MYR6 nett). Although this is better than this waste of stomach space but I would rather pay more for better pasta or spend my MYR5 on fast food like McD cheese burger than eat this budget pasta again.

The bill for 4 of us. One of us add on more mushroom at a price of MYR2 nett.

Updated later (24102018 Wed from draft)

Did not think I would eat here again but I did because my friend wanted to have the pasta with tomato mushroom sauce and I follow suit. Taste good but after this meal, I suffered from excessive stomach acid so no more means no more.

Resumed Order

Last year (2016), we did not order the Steamed Rice with Chinese Sausage (Lap Mei Fan) special set menu during CNY at the Zun Express. This year, as in year 2014 and 2015, we ordered the Lap Mei Fan again.

Steamed rice with cured duck meat and sausages. As we don't eat cured meat and sausages at home, we think it is ok to risk eating these cured meat once a year during CNY at this eatery.

Add on a bowl of nourishing soup to counter any ill effects of the cured meat.

Wolfberries jelly dessert that is included in the Lap Mei Fan set. I think the hot luo han guo - Siraitia grosvenorii - drink is not included in this set but in another set.

Sauteed Fish Slices with Hawthorne Sauce. The sauce is a bit sourish like tomato sauce. The fish slices do not taste like dory fish but I do not know what fish is used. Since we had these dishes a few months ago, I do not have the receipt anymore but I think the total price is in the range of MYR55 to MYR59. Updated later: Found the receipt. One set is 21++ (10% service charge and 6% GST) and the other set is 23++ so total price is MYR51.30 nett.

Regressed

This is the 2nd time that we chose to eat a meal at the Soup Restaurant in Jaya Shopping Centre.

Samsui Ginger Chicken (15 pieces) - MYR26.50+ 10% service charge (MYR29.15 nett). The chicken does not taste as good as before. This bowl of rice is the same bowl of rice as the one in the photo below.

A bowl of white fungus chicken soup - MYR11.50+ (MYR12.65 nett). Both of us shared a bowl of plain rice - MYR2.35+ (MYR2.60 nett). Total bill is MYR44.40 nett. I think we will stick to Farmers Street for our weekly dinner in Jaya Mall.

Still thinking whether or not we should order this one soup, two dishes set at MYR23.90+ one day

Beef Stew at Pho Vietz

Beef stew with Rice set - MYR17.90 +10% service charge (MYR19.70 nett). The portion of beef stew is enough for two average eaters. The beef stew is very tasty, very slightly spicy. This set is value for money because apart from the beef stew, it includes a bowl of rice, a bowl of appetising soup and a bowl of sweet and sour salad.

Beef Noodle Soup at the same price as the beef stew set.

Interior - Colourful mural. This branch of Pho Vietz at Sri Petaling is decorated with care to the details.

Total amount is MYR48.05 nett. This is our 3rd visit to this eatery. Due to its tasty food, we will visit it more often.

Chateraise Gardens Mall

Chateraise is now at the Gardens Mall near Jaya Grocer. I still have not eaten any fresh whipped cream cakes from Japan sold here yet because I just could not bring myself to pay so much for so little cake especially when I don't like to eat whipped cream. Guess I will never know what they taste like.

Baba Plate

The name of this eatery at the Jaya Mall used to be Heritage Village in 2015. Then in Aug 2016, we noticed that the name has been changed to Farmers Street but the decor still looks about the same as before.

Baba Plate - MYR20++ (10% service charge and 6% GST) - MYR23.30 nett - shared by 2 pax. The curry chicken is creamy and flavourful. The fried fish tastes quite good too.

We only ordered one item as we are having coffee elsewhere after this.

The location of Farmers Street in Jaya Shopping Centre. Once a week, we will hang out here after work to wait for the traffic jam to subside so we will eat our dinner in this shopping centre too on those days.

Waited 1 year

After reading NuxV's post (2016) about Dave's Deli having a weekday promotion of 30% off on all main meals for dined in customers, I wanted to go for this promotion but never did have a chance until recently when I had to go to One Utama for work so I went for this promotion.

Beef Lasagna - MYR20.28+ with 30% discount off for weekday lunch making it MYR14.20+ (MYR15.05 nett). This lasagna is more than a thousand times better than this nightmare. I like the broccoli, carrots and green peppers side dish that they included.

My co worker ordered the signature chicken chop - MYR19.62+ with 30% discount off for weekday lunch making it MYR13.72+ (MYR14.55 nett).

I need the total bill to be above MYR30 to pay by card so I ordered a drink. I chose Ribena Longan because Ribena is my childhood favourite drink. No discounts for drinks so my drink costs MY6.04+ (MYR6.40 nett) making the total bill to be MYR36 nett. My lunch costs a total of MYR21.45 nett but it was worth the binge and stretching my stomach for because it was very tasty!

Go Spicy Go Prawns

Since I was still craving for shrimps and prawns, I ordered fresh prawns thin mee hoon in superior soup - MYR16.40+ (MYR18 nett) for lunch at Jaya One. There were 3 prawns and I can vouch for their freshness as I ate the roe from their heads and savoured the pure taste of prawns.

Can you see the words "Go Noodle House" on the bowl above? This shows that their bowls are custom made just for them.

My friend tried the pork ball noodle in spicy soup - MYR10.60+ (MYR11.65 nett). Spicy soup costs MYR0.50+ more than superior soup. I dare not try this spicy soup seeing that it looks so spicy.

Red Lobster for Shrimps

The trip to Bubba Gump for shrimps did not satisfy my shrimps craving so when I saw the advert banner for Red Lobster showing an appetizer named Shrimp Trio, I was sold immediately.

Shrimp Trio - MYR36.90++ (MYR43 nett after 10% service charge and 6% GST). Grilled shrimp with pineapple mango salsa, sweet chili shrimp and golden fried shrimp. Good effort trying to present it well.

Of the three, I only like the Grilled shrimp with pineapple mango salsa. For the other two, the shrimp taste was covered by the batter and sauce and I find them a bit too salty.

Since my spouse does not eat cheese and butter, I ordered the lunch set of Spicy Tiger Prawn Pasta - MYR28.90++ (MYR33.70 nett) to share with him thinking that spicy means no cheese and no butter but he still detected the taste of butter so I had to use my container to take most of the pasta home to eat later.

The menu describes it as "Tiger prawns and mixed vegetables served on a bed of linguine in a spicy, light and savory sauce." The tiger prawns are fresh enough but the pasta is cooked until it is too soft so it did not taste like pasta to me at all, taste just like normal yellow flat noodles.

The lunch set includes a bowl of mushroom soup and a glass of Lipton ice tea.

Total Bill for 2 is MYR76.70 nett and my craving for shrimps is still not fulfilled.

Best eaten warm

Continuing from yesterday's post:
Just when we thought we were done with food, I saw the queue outside Nam Heong at the Starling Mall. This Nam Heong is from Ipoh and is not the Nam Heong Chicken Rice from Jalan Sultan which has a branch in Desa Sri Hartamas.

Nam Heong Egg Tarts - MYR3.20 nett for 1 and MYR17.90 nett for 6 so I bought 6 as takeaway.

We ate two on the spot when they are still warm and the pastry layers are so crispy and taste like cream crackers which is very nice. Later when we were home, we ate another two and the taste is so different, no longer as tasty as when eaten warm. The cream crackers taste is no longer there when the egg tart is no longer warm and the pastry crust is not so crispy anymore. So it is better to eat them warm on the spot.

Signature Chicken Sou - MYR3.20 nett for 1 and MYR17.90 nett for 6 but I bought 2 only (MYR6.40 nett) because I don't want to spend too much here. Quite nice - the sesame taste stands out.

Going Green

Continuing from yesterday's post:

After lunch at Super Thai, we went to Tsujiri for dessert. Chiffon Parfait O-Matcha at MYR16.90 nett and Signature O-Matcha hot drink (not sweet at all) at MYR15 nett.

Side View

The red bean paste is sweet. The soft serve green tea and chiffon cake tasted slightly sweet only so this is the perfect dessert for those who do not like very sweet food. I find that there is a bit too much cornflakes in this parfait.

Total Bill for 4 pax is MYR55.80 nett.

Patin Fish

Continuing from yesterday's post:

For lunch, we went to Super Thai to eat this steamed Patin Fish (Silver Catfish) from Temerloh - MYR52 nett. The fish is fresh and the spicy lime "broth" is very appetising but we need to be careful of the bones.

Pineapple Fried Rice - MYR18 nett. It is slightly sweet.

SuperThai Rice Set - MYR20 nett with a free drink (Pandan or Lemongrass) and we chose a glass of cold Lemongrass. PH has written a post all about this set. On the plate, there are 3 slices of Pork Belly (partly hidden by the small bowl of  watermelon), Mango Salad, Salt Pepper Squid, Tom Yum Soup, Green Curry Chicken, Oily and not very Crispy Omelette (under the rice), watermelon and green sauce.

Total Bill is MYR90 nett for 4 pax. We did not order much here too because we are going for dessert next.

Capital Nasi Dagang Kelantan

Last Sunday, we tried to eat as much food as we could in Damansara Utama because we have read so much about the tasty food in this area in PH's blog. At about 11 am, we went to Annie 1 because of PH's post here but the staff were too busy to clear used but available tables so we left to look for food elsewhere and ended up at Capital Nasi Dagang Kelantan which PH has mentioned many times too.

Nasi Dagang Beef - MYR9.90 nett. The two chunks of beef are tender, sweet and tasty. The rice reminds me of the nasi dagang at Herbs and Spices because the rice itself is kind of sweet too. There are two pieces of crispy salted fish which is not too salty, half a hard boiled egg and some pickled cucumber slices. Please ignore the piece of deep fried keropok lekor (deep fried fish paste mixed with sago flour) because it is not part of this dish. Overall, the portion is small enough for me and very delicious. I will be back to try the Nasi Kerabu and Nasi Lemak.

Keropok lekor (deep fried fish paste mixed with sago flour) - MYR3.50 nett - soft enough for me. Now I know where to get keropok lekor if I crave for them. Hot barli drink - MYR2.50 nett.

Total Bill MYR15.90 nett for 2 pax. We did not order much because we plan to eat lunch soon at another eatery.

We will definitely be back. The next eatery that we went to is in this photo too. :)
