Plain Rice Salted Egg

On Saturday 23.apr.22, ordered 2 deliveries, one to our place and one direct to the Elderlies.

12.45 noon - plain rice with one salted egg. So delicious! Just these two items to fully enjoy and appreciate the taste of the salted egg yolk and salted egg white. Must not have more items.

It was on one night while on the way to dropping off to sleep, the feeling of yummy salty egg taste with plain rice appeared in my mouth so I bought one boiled salted egg and cooked some basmathi rice to enjoy this yummy budget meal. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹ Cravings satisfied.

Direct delivery to the Elderlies. They choose bkt as their dinner. There are bkt eateries with promo at better prices but they like this lucky bkt so we didn't order those bkt on promo because we won't know whether they will like those promo bkt or not. Better stick to this lucky bkt which they like.

For our 3 meals, ordered food from Pudu ICC Food Court again. The penang prawn Mee and petai ckt meals are for the Elderlies' lunch. Total price for 11 food items: MYR 130 and the app selected grab express to deliver the food at MYR 11.10 so each item on average costs about MYR 13 which is quite reasonable.

Ba Xian Guo

On Friday 5.nov.21, we went to a mall for about 1 hour from 11.29 am to 12.28 noon, parked for MYR 6 nett to buy a pendant gift which he doesn't think is a good idea to buy from shopee because it will be shipped from Penang. Friday is kid 1's day so he is ok to send and accompany me there since he asks me not to buy from shopee.

12.12 noon - noticed that they have this dark cubes of preserved ba Xian Guo so bought 4 tubs to stock up since they were out of stock since MCO started in 18.mar.20 at MYR 13.80 nett per tub. Previously on 21.jul.21, I bought 2 tubs of dark ba Xian Guo wedges with fruit peel and 2 tubs of light ba Xian Guo cubes. All 3 taste slightly different but serve the same function.

He eats them regularly because he says they help his throat a lot, be it sore throat or phlegm.

Online says:
Eight Immortals Fruit (ๅ…ซไป™ๆžœ Baxian Guo)– It’s a pulp made of dried orange peels and various herbs. The pulp is stuffed into fresh pomelo, grapefruit or bergamot skin (it really does look like a fruit – thus the name). Later it’s being dried and cut into pieces. Despite being sold in candy shops, it is actually considered to be a traditional Chinese medicine (which I didn’t know when buying it). It’s mostly used to treat cough and sore throat, as well as a remedy for nausea and indigestion. According to various descriptions, you shouldn’t eat more than 5-6 pieces a day though, since with higher doses it might cause diarrhoea (and believe me – it does).

12.08 noon - pass by Paul so stop and buy two items. No stomach space to eat them so they are in the fridge. I think the tomato olive bread has a lot of olive oil in it until the oil seeped through the paper bag.

The tomato olive bread in the paper bag.

Item 1 is a pure butter cake. I sure have high expectations of this cake so I hope I won't be disappointed when I eat it later.

While I was buying the gift for my friend, he went to Nam Heong to buy his favourite egg tarts as takeaway.

11.38 am - he bought nasi lemak for lunch to eat at home.

3 items only on his list.

He ate one egg tart immediately when we were back home and we're quite disappointed that the egg tart doesn't taste as good as the egg tarts from Starling Mall and MyTown branches.

He also bought these two crispy salted egg custard buns because he knows that I like to eat salted egg yolk custard buns. We ate one each.

2.38 pm - side view.

Taste like doughnuts due to it being deep fried. He feels that it is a bit too oily but I am ok with it.

2.40 pm - the salted egg yolk custard inside the deep fried bun is still in liquid form.

6 pm - he ate all the remaining rice, meat, bean curd sheets and bkt soup from the previous day as his dinner. I just ate a small piece of meat and one piece of bean curd sheet because I am still full from lunch where I ate all the remaining

2.05 pm - I ate all the remaining chicken and rice from brew House kuchai bought on Wednesday, 2 days ago because I have forgotten about it on Thursday. I am surprised that I like the chicken peppery taste marinate.

Salted egg yolks cornflakes

Salted egg yolk cornflakes with curry leaves. Taste is on the sweet side with the rich creamy salted egg yolk aroma.

Please click on the above photos for the contact number to buy them from the insta seller if you are interested.

I bought 4 tubs and gave 3 tubs away. Ate one tub of salted egg cornflakes all by myself because he said they are too creamy for him.

There are lumps of salted egg yolk paste sandwiched between the cornflakes which makes this snack extremely creamy and rich in taste.

WG Salted Egg Yolk Chicken

My lunch: Salted Egg Yolk Chicken with (Small portion) Rice at MYR 8.50 nett. I kept half for dinner. The deep fried curry leaves enhanced the fragrance of the salted egg yolk. The pieces of chicken are coated with a thin layer of batter and deep fried until very crispy. A very tasty dish which I will definitely order again.

My friend's lunch: Rice wine chicken with rice (MYR 12.40 nett). The wine is very strong. I can smell it from my seat. Smells tasty so I will order this next time.

Please click on the above photo to view a larger image of the menu (page 1). What will you order from it?

Salty Yolk Cookies

From "Salted Egg Yolk Fish Skin Crisps", let's move on to Salted Egg Yolk Cookies.

It all started when my friend went to Taiwan and bought this cookie for us to try. It is quite small, smaller than a standard teaspoon.

The cookie looks like this.

Side view: It is quite thin and very crispy. If you like to eat lao sar bao, you will like this cookie as it has the rich creamy taste of salted egg yolk.

Then I saw this different brand being sold in our local supermarkets so I bought a pack to try. The size is the same as the brand my friend bought and it tastes just as good. This pack (230 grams) costs about MYR 18 but I did not count the number of individually packed cookies in it.

Then I bought this bag of individually packed Salted Egg Yolk Malt Sugar Biscuits (24 biscuits) at a specialty shop that sells products from Taiwan at MYR 13.90 nett.

The biscuit is smaller than a teaspoon. The salted egg yolk taste is found in the layer of malt sugar sandwiched between two biscuits.

The layer of malt sugar is quite thin and could be quite hard so it takes a while to soften in the mouth. Some of my friends like it and some don't. I can't decide whether I like it or not. I feel that the malt taste does not go well with the salted egg yolk taste but some of my friends said the taste is quite acceptable.
