Smoked Salmon Salad

On Tuesday 16.june.2026, we planned to go to MyTown mall at 10.30 am but we were up early at 6 am so we decide to go to Yitcha Kaw Kaw for breakfast before going to MyTown.

2.02 pm - I ordered Smoked salmon salad MYR 33++ The 3 big slices of smoked salmon are rolled up, he ate one roll and I ate two rolls. Taste good not salty, just the right level of smokiness. The spinach and long beans are fresh and crispy. Ok to order this salad again next time. 😋 

2.07 am - I ordered fish and chips MYR 32++ for him. Two large pieces of deep fried battered fish pieces.

2.25 pm - my portion.

The deep fried batter is crispy and the fish meat is flaky white so everything looks tasty but when I ate them, I detected a slight mild ammonia taste so I had to eat everything with the chili and tartar sauce to try to cover the mild unpleasant taste. Glad to say I ate everything and was ok.

That slight mild ammonia taste could be due to the type of fish not being processed immediately when caught such as stingrays or it could be due to crispy Ammonium Bicarbonate Fish Batter recipe not executed properly.

We also ordered one cold long black MYR 10++ to share. Total MYR 87.00 nett.

8.07 am - there is a new promo set of ordering one main dish with soft boiled eggs and a drink at a good price so he ordered fried chicken whole leg as the main dish.

8.09 am - we shared this dish.

8.15 am - I ordered ala carte double kaya butter toasts. After seeing the small bowl of curry gravy with the nasi lemak, I added two items into the order list: two hard-boiled eggs MYR 1.5++ x 2 and one bridal pastry cake with red bean paste MYR 2.60++

8.36 am - I cut up the above bridal pastry cake with red bean paste fillings.

when I was young, when relatives got married, they would send one yellow pastry cake filled with lotus paste and one pink pastry cake filled with red bean paste to my childhood home. I like to eat these two pastry cakes so when I saw it in Yitcha Kaw Kaw, I bought one and ate it all by myself there and then 😋 very tasty, just as I remembered it to be. He didn't want to eat it.

On Saturday 6.june.2026, went to Thong Kee Sri Petaling for breakfast at 7 am. Then at 9.30 am, my friend picked me up to go to town.

10.33 am - my friend took me to this cafe etc and I ordered Scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, waffle with butter and honey MYR 22 nett. I love this dish 😋 

10.21 am - my friend ordered prawns pasta MYR 20 nett.

10.13 am - hot tea MYR 8 nett and for me, cold long black MYR 10 nett.

Total MYR 60 nett. My friend insisted that we each pay for our own food.

10.07 am - all the food on page 1 of the menu looks tasty

9.59 am - cafe etc opens at 10 am exactly so we waited a while for it to open.

7.10 am - the two soft boiled eggs MYR 3.6+ are placed in warm water in a metal container covered by a bowl.

Total for cham, eggs, toasts MYR 10.70 nett.

On Saturday 13.sep.2025, he chose to go to Midvalley mall to eat MYR 6.80++ fried chicken whole leg nasi lemak before the promotion ends on 16.sep.2025 so we went there and ate both brunch and early dinner.

10.15 am - Hai Kah Lang took over the space of Define Food restaurant to open a branch in Midvalley KL. It is located in the office building in between Midvalley Mall and the gardens mall.

9.40 am - we sat facing the open window with a view of the frangipani tree outside. Birds can fly straight in.

10.15 am - the very same window viewed from outside with an attap overhang. An attap roof is a thatched roof usually made from woven palm leaves.

11.04 am - Brekkie set is now available during weekends so I ordered smoked salmon +MYR 15 to the existing MYR 9.90 scrambled eggs sourdough toasts and coffee brekkie set. Total MYR 25.80 nett. This is my lunch.

No refills allowed because I didn't order a set since I was full.

12.49 noon - I ordered a plate of edamame 🫛 MYR 7.50++ which I took most of them home.

1.07 pm - the tonkatsu pork is battered and deep fried but not marinated so these sauces, condiments and sesame seeds are provided for those customers who require a strong tasting meat.
