Brinjal Curry

On Thursday 14.aug.2025, I wanted to go buy Brinjal from the chap fan shop to eat with the remaining curry gravy in the fridge so we went to 126 kopitiam.

*** 126 kopitiam Sri Petaling ***

10.28 am - he ate chapfan aka rice with a few selected ready cooked dishes of his choice MYR 10 nett while I just drank cold coffee because I planned to eat all remaining food from the fridge later. A cup of Cold coffee and a hot cham total MYR 6 nett.

3.12 pm - the Brinjal MYR 5 nett that I bought to eat with the remaining curry gravy from 5 days ago, bought on Saturday 9.aug.2025 with the roti canai.

*** Clear Fridge Food ***

3.10 pm - he cooked broccoli and small napa cabbage and also reheated the bkt from previous day.

4.10 pm - in the morning he prepared 4 soft boiled eggs and kept 2 eggs longer in the hot water for me because I preferred the eggs to be not so runny but at 4 pm, the eggs are still perfect soft boiled eggs so I stirred them into the small napa cabbage soup and microwaved them before drinking the eggs and soup.

QQ Pastry

On Tuesday 28.mar.2023, went to buy chapfan lunch for the Elderlies from Choy Kei coffee shop 3jc soup mihun MYR 9 and Hiong Mei chapfan eatery.

*** Friday 10.mar.2023 ***

QQ Pastry from Good Chen shop in midvalley mall. It is sweet and savoury with mochi, red bean and meat floss fillings. The overall taste is the meat floss taste.

5.13 pm - 4 QQ pastry at MYR 3.8 each and 2 traditional wedding pastry at MYR 5 each.

5.13 pm - the box of 6 items.

2.55 pm - only 3 types of pastry are available and I bought all 3 types to try.

This lotus paste traditional wedding pastry is only slightly sweet.

This red bean traditional wedding pastry is also slightly sweet only.

2.56 pm - Good Chen shop which is next to Manhattan Fish Market eatery in midvalley mall.

Total price for 6 items: MYR 25.20 nett.

I bought the pastries from Good Chen because I was tempted to look for pastry with mochi in it after seeing the above pastries. The Good Chen pastries didn't have salted egg yolk fillings in it.

*** Tuesday 28.mar.2023 ***

12.43 noon - his chapfan no rice from Hiong Mei chapfan eatery. The pieces of siew yuk on top are bought by one elderly from the morning makeshift market within walking distance from their abode.

4.33 pm - for our dinner, he cooked omelette with smoked back bacon, 4 eggs and 42 petai. There are still one portion of remaining petai for another day.

This omelette tastes too luxurious. It should be sufficient to cook two meals:
1. Omelette petai
2. Omelette smoked back bacon

I ate all the remaining curry brinjal that he cooked on monday using brinjal bought on Sunday and curry gravy from the curry mihun he bought on Saturday. He added turmeric powder to this brinjal curry dish so it was very tasty. I ate half a portion on Monday itself and the remaining portion on Tuesday. I am pleased that we didn't waste any of the curry gravy from the curry mihun but ate it all by using it to cook brinjal curry.

Methi Baingan

On Sunday 7.aug.22, went Taman Desa to buy food and drop by de Market to buy 5 boxes of Harada green tea selling at MYR 16.99 per box after a discount of MYR 8 from MYR 24.99 which makes it a very good price. In the evening, a food ordered and paid on Wednesday, 4 days ago was delivered as per schedule.

*** Five & Two Foods Homecooked ***

6.48 pm - just received.

Homecooked Methi Baingan and Mutton Varuval from Five & Two Foods recommended by PH in her article here:

Top: Methi Baingan - eggplant with fenugreek. I like the Herby taste of this dish. It is not spicy, maybe just a tiny bit spicy because my spouse finds it spicy; but is oily and a bit on the salty side. Very appetising. Goes well with rice and all types of bread. Fenugreek is supposed to give health benefits.

Bottom: Mutton Varuval. I requested this dish to be less spicy. All the mutton dishes on the menu use boneless mutton which is great for me. The mutton is tender and easy to eat.

One container is for 2 pax but for small eaters, the portion is enough for 3 pax.

Close up photo of the mutton Varuval after I have eaten almost a quarter or it. The mutton are more or less cut into cubes.

6.48 - packaging. For each dish ordered, there will be 3 containers so there are 6 containers here for the 2 dishes I ordered. I gave a box each to my friend and kept 4 boxes. They can be frozen up to 3 months.

*** Tuck Tuck Tei Taman Desa ***

12.38 noon - his chapfan of rice, okra, brinjal and curry vegetables with no meat. He also bought two portions of chapfan for the Elderlies' lunch. These 3 chapfan portions cost around MYR 23 nett.

4.30 pm - my one meal of the day consists of his fish wanton skin dumpling mihun soup from mountain Hill eatery that he kept aside for me that he bought on Friday, half an orange and chapfan dishes without rice that I bought from Tuck Tuck Tei at MYR 7 only which is a very good price for 5 dishes:

1. One braised egg
2. Soyknots
3. Okra
4. Egg tofu
5. Yin choy aka amaranth greens

*** Elderlies' dinner ***

He cooked dinner for the elderlies:
- two steamed chicken thighs with cloud ear fungus and huai shan aka Dioscorea polystachya aka called cinnamon-vine bought from de Market
- steamed 4 okra which is not their favourite food but had to eat for the fibres
- Rice
He decided to cook for them at the last minute so he didn't buy the chicken thighs in de Market. Solution is to buy from pandamart. Free delivery due to panda pro subscription.
