A Walk in the Rain

On Thursday 27.nov.2025, very early went out to the new ssg coffee shop Sun Kin City for food. Then at about 2 pm, walked out to WaTaiwan for some meat meal because he wanted to eat mung bean dessert soup at Lai Lai Desserts eatery so I said to eat some meat before that.

We looked at the sky and decided not to take any umbrellas with us but it rained so we were stuck outside. The rain got heavier and heavier so we bought two light raincoats from speed mart at MYR 1.90 nett each. Then we put on the raincoats and braved the rain 🌧️ and walked home 🏠 

It then rained the whole night.

158 Hong Ba Pandamaran

On Thursday 10.april.2025, I woke up early at 6 am because we wanted to go eat bak kut teh at the famous Seng Huat bridge bkt at Jln Besar 37 km. After booking grab at 7 am, he searched further and found out that it is closed on Thursday so while in the grab car, he confirmed with the grab car owner that it is ok to change to Pandamaran 42 km. We planned to take KTM train back to KL.

After Hong Ba, we grab to Regent Pandan Layer Cake shop near ktm station because I want to buy the pandan layers cake.

8.05 am - he ordered the recommended pork leg about MYR 77, 2 chicken claws, 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 tendons, a bowl of pepper soup with tofu and the special egg intestine, a plate of yam rice and a pot of hot tea ☕ for two pax. Later I added a bowl of bkt pork ribs MYR 17. Total is about MYR 122.

8.04 am - a plate of yam rice to share by the 2 of us.

8.09 am - tendon and 3 balls of eggs with intestine looped around them like rubber bands from the pepper soup.

8.14 am - close up of the egg which has steamed egg texture with the intestines looped around it in the middle like a rubber band.

8.45 am - I ordered a bowl of bkt soup with pork ribs. There are 4 pork ribs. The meat is cooked until tender 😋

9.52 am - Regent Pandan Layer Cake Shop is next to Lao Niang Foods so after I have bought the cakes, we had coffee ☕ at Lao Niang Foods before going back to kl.

10.04 am - kaya butter toasts, hot coffee and soft boiled eggs.

9.55 am - cold tong sui MYR 6.50 or MYR 6.80, I couldn't remember 

10.05 am - this tong sui has chia seeds, barley, longan, jelly in it. Total price for 4 items: MYR 17.70 nett. After this coffee break, we walked to ktm station.

10.34 am - as there are no train services to kl for this duration, ktm provides free bus services to Subang Jaya lrt station so we got on the free bus.

11.10 am - arrived at lrt subang jaya station

There are 5 free bus services. The one we took is no. 3 route.

From subang jaya 11.18 am :

1. Lrt to ampang park MYR 3.7 x2

2. Ampang park to naga mas MYR 2.8 x2

Reached naga mas at 12.40 noon so waited for the 1 pm feeder bus. MYR 1 x2

Was home at about 1.20 pm

So total for trip back is MYR 15 nett for 2 pax

1.38 pm - the pork leg was big so we took home one third to be eaten over 2 days. We like the taste 👍 

*** Regent Pandan Layer Cake ***

1.42 pm - I bought:

500g pandan layer cake MYR 30 nett

500g yam layer cake MYR 30 nett 

250 durian layer cake MYR 24 nett

Total MYR 84 nett 

1.42 pm - the shop cut the cakes before putting them in the boxes. 16 pieces for 500g and 8 pieces for 250g. The cakes are just slightly sweet and very light tasting. I like the jelly paste layers because the texture is almost like jelly but is still in paste form, some sort of jelly paste.

1.46 pm - 5 layers of pandan jelly paste, 4 layers of cake.

2 pm - durian layer cake. He says the taste reminds him of dodol durian.

2.08 pm - Yam layer cake. The yam layers have tiny pieces of yam in them.

After eating 2 pieces of each cake, I completed my meal for this day.
