Nexus Nasi Lemak Shop

On Sunday 10.aug.2025, went to Midvalley mall and then to Bangsar South to eat at the nasi lemak shop which has opened a branch there in Nexus.

*** Nanyang Cafe Midvalley ***

9.11 am - the trotters and soft boiled eggs are all for him.

9.23 am - we shared the glass of hot Nanyang coffee. Two soft boiled eggs for him and two sunny side up eggs for me.

9.25 am - we shared the noodles so after he has eaten his portion of the noodles, I put the two sunny side eggs on top of my portion of the remaining noodles and it looks like a complete whole balanced meal. 😋 Total price is MYR 45 nett.

9.43 am - this Nanyang Cafe sells 12 types of buns. I have eaten some of them. Maybe one day I could try all of them.

*** The Nasi Lemak Shop Nexus ***

11.47 am - fried chicken berempah nasi lemak.

11.40 am - hot lemon barley drink for him and for me, kaya butter toasts and mango bingsu aka shaved ice. The mango bingsu is just passable because it doesn't contain any fresh mango cubes in it and the mango 🥭 taste is similar to commercial mango cordial drinks.

11.29 am - nice cozy interior with air conditioning 

11.41 am - looking out at their open air dining area

12.28 noon - the nasi lemak shop open air dining area which is located just outside the eatery.

*** Hock Kee Kopitiam ***

1.28 pm - his choice:

Steamed chicken curry laksa MYR 18.90++

Quite different because it has small scallops.

He selected mihun and yellow mee as the noodles.

He wanted lemon grass green tea as the drink but I changed it to passion fruit lemon grass green tea so that it has a bit of sourish taste so is more appetising. MYR 9.90++

1.29 pm - I ordered pumpkin kaya butter toasts. Can taste the authentic pumpkin in the pumpkin paste. MYR 4.50++

Total for 3 items: MYR 38.65 nett

1.54 pm - hock Kee kopitiam at Nexus, bangsar south 

*** Groceries ***

2.56 pm - medium sized cherries 🍒 700g for MYR 34 only so it is a must buy. I counted 61 🍒 at home. 3 avocado 🥑 in the bag for MYR 12 nett. 6 Cara Cara oranges 🍊 and some bananas 🍌 

I ate 16 cherries 🍒 in one sitting.

Retained 450g water because ate more food than usual.

Cerises

I bought a pack of cherries (900g) at MYR49.90 nett. They are sweet and tasty. There are about 70 cherries in the bag above. Then the next day I say a similar bag of cherries with the same weight under another brand selling at MYR39.90 nett during the weekend promotion for 3 days only. Since I can't eat so many cherries in  a short time, I did not buy it again at the better price.

The normal price is MYR58.90 nett.

Update: After a few weeks, I saw a bag of 1kg cherries from USA selling at a promotional price of MYR38 nett so I quickly grabbed one of the last two bags and bought it. Just love to eat this fruit.

Fruit is best

I don't usually buy cherries because they are expensive. Then I figure instead of spending a huge amount of money eating lots of sinful food during this festive season, why don't I buy some cherries. So I bought a packet of 500gm of cherries at a discounted price of MYR24.90 (normal price  is MYR29.90). I am aware that some night markets sell cherries at a cheaper price but I seldom go to night markets.

I can just continue popping them into my mouth non stop. What is your favourite fruit that you can't stop eating once you start?
