Hunt for Mee Sua

On Wednesday 19.feb.2025, I wanted to eat mee sua so we went to 126 Kopitiam because he remembers that the pork noodles stall there has mee sua as a choice for noodles.

9.59 am - my portion of mee sua soup. Very soft, very easy to eat. Will eat it again.

At 3 pm, we shared one orange thus completing my meals for this day.

4.21 pm - he fried an egg on top of a slice of wing Heong Bakwa as his early dinner. I didn't eat any of it but it smells very good 😋

Bkt Braised Non-Fried Chicken Feet

On Thursday 26.dec.2024, I woke up feeling better, no longer wanting to vomit but still with a throbbing headache at the back of my head. He chose Kokan jalan perisa happy garden for brunch.

12.27 noon - I ate two braised chicken feet. They are not deep fried so they are soft.

1.05 pm - Samy & Min Bkt store opening ceremony at pavilion Bukit Jalil with lion dance.

12.27 noon - as we have eaten breakfast earlier we just ordered two items without rice. Soft ribs and chicken feet.

They gave a small container of tea and a MYR 50 off voucher for a minimum of MYR 100 spending for next visit valid until 5.feb.2025

12.51 noon - what happened to my two chicken feet.

*** Thursday 26.dec.2024 ***

8.09 am - he ordered hot cham, soft boiled eggs and chicken wine mee sua at kokan.

I ordered hot barley but they only have cold lohongo so I said ok and drank cold lohongo. I ate a bit of his mee sua and 1.5 braised eggs. I still have the throbbing headache at the back of my head.

Crispy

The deep fried bean curd sheets in the bowl of mee suah are so crispy - MYR5.50 nett - that it is a pity to see some of them soaked in the broth.

Casual Dining

Herbal Dang Gui (Angelica sinensis) Duck Mi Suah - MYR13.80++ (MYR16.10 nett). There were only 3 pieces of duck with meat on bones. Taste is acceptable but too little duck meat.

Braised pork ribs with peanuts - MYR8.80++ (MYR10.25 nett). The texture of the rice is almost like Japanese rice - firm yet soft enough, the grains stick together yet each grain is still keeping its shape individually so it is very tasty. The menu says it is Calrose rice.

This eatery is located at Kuchai Entrepreneur Park, Jalan Kuchai Maju 9 with the name "来来红烧牛肉面" in chinese and "Lai Lai Casual Dining" in english. It is from Singapore and has some value-for-money sets that included drinks in the set but we ordered ala carte instead without ordering any drinks so the price seems to be on the higher end for the amount of food we get.

Too much

Stir fried mee suah - MYR7.50 for a regular portion at Soon Lei. After eating this, I realise that I don't like wok hei (the taste of a hot wok) in my food because this dish is full of wok hei and I prefer it to be lighter in taste.

T2014 Crispy Tofu

From Taipei, we went to Taichung to two famous stalls in the FengJia Night Market (逢甲夜市). From one of them, we bought the following:

Mee Suah and Crispy Stinky Tofu which is not as stinky as those wet ones in my earlier post.

The pieces of tofu were very crispy and covered by pickled cabbage and shredded cucumber. I did not know that they would put so much sauce on the vegetables. I think it will taste better with less sauce.

Mee Suah in gooey broth with "I can't remember what the vegetable was" on top. Piping hot so be careful when eating this.

This eatery only sells 3 food items. Crispy stinky tofu TWD 45 (MYR 5.40), Mee Suah TWD35 (MYR 4.20) and Pickled Cabbage TWD40 (MYR4.80)

The name of this eatery at the night market is 一心素食(Yi Xing). The turnaround is very fast so if there are no available seats, just wait for a short while and you will get a seat soon enough.

Mee Suah 2

I like to eat this bowl of seafood noodle (MYR6.50 nett) at a hawker stall and would always ask for it to be served with mee sua but the broth has a slightly sweet taste that I do not quite like. Recently I observe how the seller cooks the noodle and notice that he carefully adds a bit of a special mixture of dark liquid into the broth. Today when I ordered this item, I asked the seller not to put in the dark liquid and he said to me that the broth would be like plain water, without any taste but I insisted so he did as I requested and the slightly sweet taste wasn't there anymore and I like this mee sua dish even more.

Update: 18 June 2016 Saturday - the seller decided not to sell this seafood noodle anymore and just concentrate on selling pork noodles so more photos to remember this by.

Mee Suah

We were back at Green Curry Restaurant for an early dinner at 5.30 pm one day.

Herbal Chicken Set (with a drink) - MYR9.90 nett but for the noodle, we chose mee suah so we had to add MYR0.50 for it so the price is MYR10.40 nett. There are no extra charges for other types of noodles. Only for mee suah, an additional 50 cents is imposed. The broth tastes of "dong quai" (Angelica sinensis) and I find it tasty.

Green Curry Laksa Set (with a drink) with pork and mee suah so add 50 cents to the set price of MYR9.50 nett making it MYR10 nett. This time I did not take any photos of the drinks as they were the same drinks that I ordered previously. It seems that mee suah is more expensive than other types of noodle such as yellow mee, hor fun and mee hoon (rice vermicelli).
