Tao Little Kitchen

5.40 pm Mon 22.mar.21 - ordered delivery for dinner from Tao Little Kitchen. He got to know about this restaurant from fb adverts. This is all the Mee suah with half the chicken yellow glutinous rice wine. Kept the remaining half for the next day to be consumed as broth. Nice rich broth so this dish gets his approval for repeat buys.

Their popular extra large fish balls are out of stock so they called me and asked if they could give normal fish balls instead. I agreed. These 11 fish balls are served with a thick dark spring onions and garlic gravy. The fish balls are springy yet firm but soft. Tasty!

The kway teow for the pork spring onions and ginger wat tan hor. I ate some of the kway teow before putting in the gravy and found that they are not salty at all. So that means the salt is only in the gravy.

Put in half the gravy and kept half to be eaten with rice on another day. We shared this dish.

These two dishes are listed in their must-try section.
I ordered set A at MYR 55 because it contains the two signature dishes and their popular extra large fish balls. The 4th item in this set A is fish ball Mee hoon soup. The link to order is as below:

This photo copied from their website showing the location of this restaurant which is near NSK, Kuchai Lama.

7 am - Tues 23.mar.21 - He ate the remaining chicken and drank the glutinous rice yellow wine as broth.

We shared this fish ball Mee hoon soup as breakfast on Tuesday 23.mar.21 at 7 am after reheating it.

12.50 pm - Tues lunch of cooked rice mixed with the remaining gravy of the wat tan pork spring onions and ginger and reheat so it is something like moon rice. Add choy sum vege.

6.30 pm - cooked Mee hoon in the remaining soup of the morning's fish ball Mee hoon and add in a bean curd sheet ytf, some veges and the fish balls from Tao Little Kitchen for dinner on Tues.

Set A of 3 main meals and 1 side dish was stretched to be 5 main meals over two days.

  1. I had that yellow wine chicken soup with mee sua in KL, Jalan Alor but I did not like it. I prefer our traditional Foochow red wine. Old habits die hard, I guess.

    1. There are many quality of yellow wine. Maybe the one you had was not one of good quality so that is why it is too strong and off-putting for you. Like kampua Mee where there are those you like and those you don't like, same goes for this glutinous rice yellow wine. So please don't just eat one and form a judgement for all of them.

    2. The one I had - very famous one, all the newspaper articles plastered onto the stall and walls. The wine was sweet - I guess I was not used to it, may like it better if I have had more...and it was so strong I felt drunk after eating half a bowl, could not finish. Our traditional Foochow red wine will not bring about this effect...but the ethnic Iban tuak, yes - this one can be sweet too.

    4. Yes, some can be too strong and overly sweet. But some are not. That is a tourist attraction, I haven't eaten there due to it being a tourist attraction and all hyped up.

    5. Perhaps you could give it another try should you happen to hear of another popular yellow rice wine noodles. The alcohol taste should be rich and mellow, not strong and unrefined like liquor essence.

  8. Going to NSK @ Kuchai area is always a nightmare for me as the traffic and parking problems are no ending. That's because it is a very popular hub.
