On Wednesday, 17.mar.21, I noticed that there is this new Nasi Kukus Tonggek kiosk in Aeon Food Court at Midvalley Mall. Will buy from them next time. They also sell fried tofu, fried fish, fried squid, and fried tempe.
Seems like it was located in the food court on the highest floor in 2019 as mentioned in this article:
It sure looks good! I would love to try that when I get the chance. Cute name! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteTaste is quite good. I don't know what the name means.
DeleteWhat an interesting name. I was trying to think what tonggek means and when I googled, the example given is when someone walks, their butt juts out. LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh is it? So weird to name this dish with that meaning. 🤔
DeleteThat's a rater weird way to enjoy your meal right? In a tube? The nam sounds kinda raunchy. LOL :D
ReplyDeleteSupposed to pour out from the tube if you read the article in the link. Wonder why they name it as such.
DeleteI have eaten this before in IOI City Mall foodcourt. Long queue and the deep fried squid finishing fast. I only managed to try the fried chicken dish. I don't taste anything special about this nasi tonggek except that the rice is served in a can which we pour out to eat. It is merely some fried chicken with rice in curry sauce.
ReplyDeleteI think the curry gravy is a bit different cos it is a bit sourish. Maybe the fried squid is the special, not the chicken which is also what we ate.
DeleteLooks delicious. Hope after eating this nasi kukus, we won't tonggek when we walk. Lol!
ReplyDeleteLolx! So far so no, no Tonggek when walking. 😂
DeleteYes, the set looks yummy!! Good choice, Mun!
ReplyDeleteI think fried squid should be more popular.
DeleteSo it's a chain. Must be quite good. I keep thinking it sounds like chicken butt which is 'tongkeng'.
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks for teaching me a new word. Seems to be very popular when it started. You can go try eat the fried squid.
DeleteIs that curry gravy on top of the rice?
ReplyDeleteYes it is. Very nice curry gravy because not that spicy.
