Tasty Wok House

Today, Thursday 11.2.21 is CNY Eve. This year, we have chosen not to attend any reunion dinners with our elderlies in order to protect them from getting infected should we unknowingly are asymptomatic.

Since we are living within 10 km of each other, the son will drop off lunch for them with his mask on at all times.

Yesterday, Wednesday 10.2.21, we passed by Tasty Wok eatery that NuxV wrote about here so we stopped to buy takeaway food from them.

1.17 pm - Yin Choy soup with salted eggs and a large portion of rice costs MYR 22 Nett.

Small portions of stout pork ribs, MYR 18 Nett and salted egg yolk squid, MYR 25 Nett. The pork ribs could be more tender with more stout gravy is the feedback that I received. The salted egg yolk squid has curry powder taste in the batter coating and could do with some curry leaves. Overall, the two dishes taste fine.

12.45 noon - at Tasty Wok House. There are two occupied tables inside this eatery since dine in is now allowed starting on this very same day of Wed 10.2.21.

1.43 pm - I ate all the ingredients inside this soup and drank the remaining soup for my lunch. 😋

Here's wishing everyone who celebrate cny a very happy week and stay safe! Enjoy the reunion lunch or dinner with your own household at home or with a max of 15 persons of immediate family.

Fresh update on Thursday 11.2.21 12 noon:

Went to deliver food to the elderlies and moved on to buy takeaway food from a nearby shop but found it half closed due to cny Eve so continued on to New Lian Hin coffee shop which we know would most likely be still opened for business. True enough, New Lian Hin is open with a queue of people waiting for their takeaway food and many people eating in the next door seating area in twos at each table.

9.45 am - before the delivery, I ate one yong sheng hup tow sou. Have to be very careful because it tends to fall apart at the slightest touch. Then ate all 3 or 4 of the remaining hup tow sou bought on 17.1.21 at taman desa. These cookies should keep hunger at Bay for a few hours.

Saw this pack of chai aka nam Yee Vegetarian dish at New Lian Hin and bought a pack at MYR 15 Nett.

Stood in queue and ordered curry mihoon Mee and siew yuk rice for the siew yuk eater and waited outside the shop with the numbers given. These two items cost MYR 19.50 Nett and it is pay when placing order. They misplaced the siew yuk rice order so I had to ask for it because I paid so couldn't just walk away and not wait.

11.26 am - he ate this curry mihoon for lunch and I ate a bit to try it and half the chai. On the way home, saw people in a q to buy roast duck. I think this cny is just like before, with many people in q to buy tasty food on cny Eve.

Plant based meals from www.pbhall.org for Thursday 11.2.21:

Meal A: Tomato chick peas, semolina and spinach.

Meal B: Basmati rice, red spinach, and tofu in dhall

  1. Eh...your deep fried salted egg squid don't have curry leaves? Mine got alot of leaves with cili padi too. We never order the yin choy soup before coz it is something we can easily cook at home. Since now can dine out, i m planning to solo dine at A&W on CNY😃

    1. Yin choy soup is easy to cook but have you tried washing the yin choy leaves? No curry leaves in our takeaway dish at all.

  2. Stout pork is something that I love. Had that at one place here a long long time ago, dunno why they took it off their menu. Maybe the chef cooking that left.
