Almond Crispy Cookie

Wednesday 17.2.21 CNY Day 6. We went out to buy takeaway food since it is mid week.

Yesterday, Tuesday 16.2.21 CNY Day 5, we just stayed home the whole day without even ordering or receiving any deliveries. So as it is CNY, we do what many people will do, eat CNY cookies and snacks at home. Here is one cookie - almond crispy cookie - that we ate yesterday.

This is a 杏仁酥 (Xìngrén sū) in mandarin. It tastes similar to a 核桃 酥 (Hétáo sū) in mandarin aka Hup Tow Sou in Cantonese. Xingren is almond whereas Hétáo is walnut. The common hup tow sou usually doesn't have walnut. My friend gave me this box of Xing ren su aka almond crispy cookie because she says it is the best that she had eaten. I tend to agree because this xing ren su is extremely crispy so have to eat it carefully else it will crumble and the crumbs will fly everywhere.

Size comparison with a standard size table spoon.

One box contains 12 individually packed cookie and costs MYR 15.80 Nett.

The ingredients are wheat flour, sugar, ground almonds, salt, peanut oil, palm oil, sesame oil, margerine and eggs.

9.16 am - not my breakfast of frozen celery pork jiaozi with instant noodles and remaining pan Mee broth. Gave me a small portion.

12.30 noon - the Briyani vegetables meal from Monday. Briyani rice with cashew nuts; cucumber raita with raw carrots and raw onions; slightly spicy assorted mushrooms - oyster mushrooms, king trumpet mushrooms, bunapi mushrooms, shitake mushrooms - curry. Large portion and tasty. Good for lunch for both of us. Good value for MYR 21 Nett.

  3. I think I've tried the almond cookie before. Nice and at least they put almond flakes on top. They have nice big palm-sized ones in Kuching and in the middle, they put a peanut. Getting smaller these days, if I am not wrong and not so nice.

  6. Haven't seen this type of cookie before.

I like white almond cookies... haven't seen any yet. People do sell online but I balk at paying the delivery charges for a single jar of cookies.

    3. Oic. They want to make it so that can be given as gifts so put into nice packaging. Yong Sheng got a shop unit in one utama so they should have this one sold there.
