Luk Dou vs Mei Dou

Wednesday 24 June 2020 d99  - went out to takeaway food and saw the Bak Chang stall opposite Choy Kee coffee shop. Bought two savoury dumplings at MYR 6 nett each and two red bean dumplings at MYR 2.50 each.

Can you spot the Luk Dou (mung beans) in the Bak Chang in the photo above?

This Bak Chang is with Mei Dou (black eyed beans).

The Bak Chang with chestnuts and dried shrimps (har bee) costs a bit more, at MYR 7.50 nett. I didn't buy because I don't want to eat dried shrimps in Bak chang though I like chestnuts.

  3. I love the ones with salted egg but not the ladies in the house so I seldom buy those. Missus gets giddy when eating red bean, allergic maybe so I never buy those.

    1. I was informed that cannot wish happy dumplings day because this day is to commemorate the death of a scholar who was also a righteous man so nothing happy about it.

  7. My hubby is a big fan of chang so I do have some once in a while when he buys more. For me, since childhood my changs don't have much filling so I'm happy with just the glutinous rice and some meat inside, maybe mushroom and chestnut too.

    1. Oh so you don't buy Chang. Your husband is the one who buy Chang. The beans are usually common in Changs. Changs with chestnuts are priced higher.
