Bak Kut Teh

This is half of the Bak Kut Teh (Toh Guan) and yam rice we bought on Friday 1 May 2020 d45 which we shared as lunch yesterday (Saturday 2 May 2020 d46). We have some Grab points to redeem so we bought via Grab for MYR 29.24 and redeemed MYR 10 so the nett price is MYR 19.24 (we also bought one portion of plain white rice) and we went to the shop to pick it up ourselves. This Bak Kut Teh is the one shown here as we often eat at this shop. We requested to have Sai Guat (literal translation is small bone which is supposed to be part just above the pork trotters). Thick skin for collagen.

1 pm - Banana walnut cranberry cake - 4 pieces left and I gobbled up 3 pieces before I stop myself. I could go on but the cake is very sweet so I have to stop. I was told to achieve the texture of moist and dense, it needs to have a lot of brown sugar in it - that's why it is on the sweet side. No artificial taste so it is very tasty despite being a bit too sweet.

1.30 pm - I ate half of the guava in this container.

3 of 3 jelly (MYR 15 nett each) that I received on Sunday 26 April 2020 d40. There is this much left so both of us shared it.

4.30 pm - This is my portion. Of the 3 flavours that I bought, I like this flavour the best: Pandan, Santan and Gula Melaka wins over cocount mango jelly and longan soy jelly.

5.40 pm - 2 of 2 bak chang we bought on Friday 1 May 2020 d45 for MYR 6.50 nett. Both of us shared it.

Consistent with the 1 of 2, it has lean pork meat inside which I like. At 7 pm, I ate 2 slices of green gardenia wholemal bread and 1 slice of sprouted rainbow bread with 7 of 12 texas chicken tender so 5 left to clear.

  1. I always avoid the thick skin from Bak Kut Teh. I just fear that it would clog my arteries! LOLOL My dad had triple heart bypass and it frightened me a lot ever since.

This banana walnut cranberry cake looks and sounds delicious. I have been eating too much cakes, breads and bak chang during this MCO. I need to start jogging next week!

    1. But u say pork lard is good so the skin should be good too, right? Everyone now seems to need heart bypass.

Yes do go jogging. Good for you. I still don't know which forest n stream u live nearby to. Your wife food is so delicious, how to resist? If I live with her I would be so so need to exercise now.

  9. I like yam rice, but with BKT can't taste the yam rice so will always go for white rice.

Glad you're still keeping track of those tenders to clear. *giggle
