Hometown Kopitiam

We wanted to eat dim sum at Ying Ker Lou but they only opened at 10.30 am, one hour away so we went to the eatery next to it, to have a typical breakfast. As it was a public holiday, there were no breakfast set meals available so we had to pay the normal price which was a bit more expensive.

Kaya Butter Toast - MYR2.80

2 Omega half boiled eggs - MYR2.80 - good that they gave us two bowls without us having to ask. Some places give only one bowl with the eggs in it and expect us to crack both eggs at the same time into the same bowl that held them.

Runny half boiled eggs

Hot Cham (coffee mixed with tea) - MYR3.50 - Don't be misled by the light colour of this coffee. It is very bitter. Both of us share all the food and with 5% service charge, the total bill came up to MYR9.55 which is a bit on the high side.

Interior - quite open concept

On working weekdays, they offer sets with better prices.

    1. Wah you are really eating very healthy food. Even I don't drink celery juice but will just eat celery sticks. Next we will be reading your post about you hitting the gym for body building. :)

    1. Oh, I didn't know that eggs from kampong chicken taste nicer. Don't think can buy them from supermarkets.

    2. Yes, kampong eggs do taste better coz they come from 'happy' chickens (and because of the yolks, of course)! They're healthier too (less cholesterol, less saturated fat, more vitamins and higher in Omega-3). Very easy to distinguish them...almost white shells (as opposed to brown) and bright orange yolks (as opposed to pale yellow). Many kopitiams (ex. Yut Kee) serve free-range eggs but they're more expensive-lah! You can easily get them from (some) wet markets and 'pasar malam'.

  6. ah, hainanese breakfast, surely something totally different from the dimsum you were planning to have.. but the coffee and toasts looked good also.. I didn't mention the eggs because I don't fancy half boiled eggs as its too slimy for me, haha!! afterall just get your stomach filled up and just "eat to live" for that morning instead~~ :)

    1. This type of breakfast is hainanese breakfast ah? I didn't know that. Bingo, you grasp the gist of this blog - sometimes we live just to eat but most of the time no choice we eat to live.
