Red Bean Buns

I love to eat red beans so now that everyone is buying loaves of bread until I could not buy any because there are none left when I walk to the shops, I am now buying these red bean buns. Gardenia red bean buns (6 buns in one pack) cost MYR 3.50 nett for a pack. Mighty White Red Bean Buns, also 6 buns in one pack cost 10 cents lesser at MYR 3.40 nett for a pack. Both buns taste good to me.

Cross section of a Mighty White Red Bean Bun - not too much red bean fillings so it is not very sweet. Good to eat one bun for snack when one is hungry to quickly stop the hunger.

Before

After

Direct from the fridge - still taste good.

  1. Same ad you, i always turn to bun and bread when i am hungry to quickly stop the hunger. I eat a lot of bread during this covid 19 period. Usually i eat luncheon meat bun or if that day is vegetarian day for me i will buy sugar coated bun or coconut bun or sometimes red bean.

  3. Read about how Gardenia bread was running out, so very hard to buy. At one time, folks over at your side were boycotting it owing to political inclinations. Sarawak folks flying home would buy a cartload to bring home, very popular.

    1. I am surprised why they don't distribute this brand of bread to your side.

  4. I must try this red bean buns if I see them.

It's a pity that you could not find bread in your area. Our neighborhood has too much bread now because we have too many convenience stores like 3 7-Eleven, 2 KK Mart, 3 SpeedMart, 1 Family Mart, 2 News.Com and 1 Hero Market. Crazy!

    1. Oh, surprising to hear that you have not tried red bean buns like these. Those black paste I wonder did they put black colouring? If not, why did the red bean turned black?

    3. I don't think just by cooking red bean for longer time will turn them black. the link below says food colouring is used else my mother has cooked red bean paste before and it is not black https://www.malaysianchinesekitchen.com/red-bean-paste/
