My lunch of 3 xiao long bao and some prawns fried rice at Din Tai Fung, Midvalley Mall.
My friend wanted to eat at Wendy's at Midvalley Mall but it has closed down so we went to Din Tai Fung and ordered Prawns Fried Rice at MYR 21.60+ (MYR 22.90 nett after 6% SST) and a basket of xiao long bao to share. There are 7 prawns in this fried rice.
6 xiao long bao at MYR 14.5+ (MYR 15.37 nett). It is better value for money to buy the 10 xiao long bao at MYR 23.20+ (MYR 24.60 nett) but we did not want to eat that many bao since it was only two of us so we settled for 6 instead.
Total bill for two pax is MYR 38.25 nett (MYR 19.125 nett each).
The many selections of Xiao Long Bao.
I have eaten Truffle Xiao Long Bao many years ago so I am not going to order them again. I also would give the chicken xiao long baos a miss because chicken is my last resort. I only eat chicken when I have nohing else to eat.
The many selections of fried rice. Wow! MYR 37.20+ (MYR 39.43 nett) for a plate of pork chop and shrimp fried rice. Nearly MYR 40 for a plate of fried rice with pork chop, I wonder who is willing to pay this amount of money for fried rice with one piece of pork chop.
All of them look tasty but the price is similar to the prices that hotels charge for fried rice, I believe (or are hotel prices much higher than these prices?).
I am surprised to see this Prawn with Salted Egg dish because this item is not available in Din Tai Fung, Taiwan. I guess the menu here is localised. I may order this dish one day to compare it with my favourite salted egg prawns at Canton-i / Dragon-i.
*** Goodbye again Wendy's ***
The branch in Midvalley / The Gardens Mall which opened around Aug 2018 has closed around March 2019 (in less than 1 year) with no official announcements about the closing.
Bought this Junior Mushroom Melt burger (MYR 6.80+ 6% SST = MYR 7.20 nett) in Dec 2018.
Quite acceptable.
You are like my friend, she also doesn't really like chicken. The junior mushroom melt burger looks good.
ReplyDeleteI am ok with chicken meat but not on top of my list.
DeleteHow was the prawns fried rice? Was it good?
ReplyDeleteThe rice is bouncy and firm so many people will like it but I prefer soggy rice, lolx! :D
DeleteLike how I'm not really into siujiao, those meat dumplings, I'm not a fan of xiao long pao either. Will eat, if any but will not go out of my way for them. Wendy's seems to be struggling to stay alive for a long time now.
ReplyDeleteTheses xiaon long paos are very dainty so some may not like it. I see Wendy's business is not bad so I don't know why they closed it.
DeleteHmm so pricey already the fried rice and pork chop? I had these recently at Dragon-I, not so ex.
ReplyDeleteDragon-i prices are not as high as this, I guess.
DeleteSo fast Wendy's closed already?
ReplyDeleteI read only the one at KLCC is still open.
Deleteit has been some time since I last had Wendy's...and now....it's gone...
ReplyDeleteDunno any branch is still open or not.
