The Loaf

The only food item that I have bought and eaten from The Loaf is the Oyaki. Then I heard of their Creamy Ampan (Anpan is a Japanese bun usually filled with red bean paste) that is supposed to be very tasty so I make it a point to drop by to try it whenever I happen to be in Pavilion.

There are 3 types of Creamy Ampan - original Fresh Cream, Espresso Coffee and Green Tea. When I was there at 10.30am, the Creamy Ampan was not available yet. Then at 12noon, the Espresso Coffee flavour was still not available but the other two were available so I bought one each for takeaway at MYR3.50++ each with MYR7.40 as the total.

It is better to eat them chilled. I find them to be very sweet with very milky rich cream. A definite favourite for those with very sweet tooth who love whipped cream. I may return for the Espresso Coffee as I read that it is the best among the three.

Green Tea Ampan - MYR3.50++ each (MYR3.70)

It looks like that because I tear it instead of freezing it and cutting it with a knife. Just look at the amount of green tea cream with the sweet red bean paste at the side.

Original Fresh Cream Ampan - MYR3.50++ each (MYR3.70)

I tear this too. A lot of fresh whipped cream inside with more red bean paste fillings. Be warned, I find it very sweet and too rich for my palate but whipped cream lovers will simply adore this Creamy Ampan.

  3. I have not dined in The Loaf before but quite often go there to buy a piece or two of bread/bun.. yes, the oyaki, haha, because they are more affordable.. I usually get the RM1.30 chocolate UFO, just bread with choc chips and walnut pieces, no cream filling so won't get jelak easily.. I actually like that.. have not tried this an pan, but now looking at the photo, oh my, all those cream makes me think twice, they do look overly sweet to me!! if just the red bean paste then probably I'll give that a try.. :)

  9. "Very sweet" isn't good la. My fav thing from The Loaf is the chocolate bagel. It's rarely out though so sometimes I just get the normal bagel.

  12. Yes, the espresso anpan is the best one coz the slight bitterness of the coffee cuts thru the sweetness of the red bean paste and fresh cream...a bit! The green tea one...overload with green tea...very cloying after first bite!

    3. So do you like to drink Matcha (hot thick green tea drink from fine powder made from good green tea leaves) like those served in Japanese tea ceremony? Have you tried those green tea drinks and dessert in Nana restaurant, midvalley?
