Pie

My work lunch group went to Secret Recipe for lunch again. The last time that I ate there, they did not have any pies so this time I ordered the black pepper lamb pie.

Lamb pie - MYR 8.80++ (total MYR10.20) - the price is the same as the Chicken Cornish Pasty that I ate on my last visit there.

I find the crust to be nicer, not as dry as the Chicken Cornish Pasty and I can actually see the lamb meat in the pie instead of the shredded chicken meat in the Cornish.

The lamb meat fillings may look a bit dry here but it is actually not that dry with small pieces of onions and carrots in the fillings as well. To sum it up, I prefer this lamb pie to the Chicken Cornish Pasty.

  4. Actually I'm surprised you even liked the pies here at all. I thought it would be the same issue as fish and chips, where you can only have UK version. I've had a few shepherd's pie in Malaysia by the way, they are all yucks..

    1. You are right. I eat this because it is the cheapest most value for money savoury item on the menu so beggars can't be choosers. If given a choice I will not eat this at all since it is so expensive and can't compare to those I ate in uk.

  5. They have? Not fond of their shepherd's pie but their cornish is quite all right, not bad.

I'm not supporting their outlet here as they charge RM1.00 extra for the drinks compared to their outlets in the peninsula. In the end, the drinks may be even more expensive than the cakes. If the cakes cost a bit more, I can jolly well understand...but the drinks! Tsk! Tsk!

  6. hmmm this may not be something I would like to order though.. not a fan of lamb and I don't like things in black pepper, at least in Malaysia that I find many places are using too overwhelmedly an amount of black pepper that covers the taste of the main ingredients, in the end it just taste too "black-peppery".. I would stick to the chicken cornish if I were to order a pie :)

ooppppsss, I do sound like someone here, don't I?? muahahaha!!! *run away mode*

  14. I think their pies need to improve on their pastry a bit. I was told by a friend to try the new PIES outlet at Uptown. He said the taste is Marvellous and so are the prices. LOL
