So when I saw that Maria's Steakcafe serves cakes too, I ordered the following cakes:
A slice of Prune Cake - MYR9.50
A slice of Banana Walnut Cake - MYR9.50
Both slices of cakes are not too sweet so they are just right for my palate.
Hot Peppermint Tea (please ignore that coffee branded cup) - MYR6
Fresh Orange Juice with no added sugar - MYR11.50
wow, you had Wagyu beef steak that day and further added on desserts?? haha, indeed pampering i would say.. the prune cake and banana walnut cake looks subtle but i can see they actually taste good, especially when you mentioned they are not too sweet, just nice for my palate too!! :)
ReplyDeleteThere were 4 of us there and I was the only one who ordered wagyu. Cakes with sweetness level that is just right definitely taste better than too sweet cakes.
Deleteyummy I love cakes!
ReplyDeleteMe too! :)
DeleteMun, both the cakes I like especially if they are not too sweet. Like you have said, now I must go looking for nice cakes too...lol
ReplyDeleteDo you bake your own cakes?
DeleteI'll definitely go for that banana cake. I'm a great fan of banana cakes :)
ReplyDeleteThis banana cake is really nice, no artificial strong flavouring at all.
DeleteLooks good. Here, we have this steamed cake, all prune, all black. They call it "hati parek", dunno why. Very very nice...anyone coming here, must buy and bring home.
ReplyDeleteBanana cake - best is the one at Payung here, served with ice cream...the boss made himself and you can see the bits of banana in it. Those at the bakeries here...mostly essence and I hear they buy the not so good bananas to make.
Oh, I must remember this "hati parek" then. *jots it down* Very true, I have eaten some banana cakes that are full of banana essence that they do not taste nice at all.
DeleteI love cakes.. Bet most people do.. When I pass by SR, I always wana go inside and buy cakes and Cornish.. oooo that banana walnut cake looks good.. yummmzzz.
ReplyDeleteSR cakes are more cream than solid cakes. I prefer solid cakes like these.
DeleteI like both cakes. Used to eat a lot of cakes when I worked in my 1st employment. Eat too many till I am not into cakes after that. Haha. Tasted prune cake once. Banana walnut is nice but fattening. Lol.
ReplyDeleteOh, does it work? So you mean I can go and eat many, many cakes until I do not want to eat cakes at all. Hahahaha, a good excuse for me to go and eat cakes then.
DeleteI like the first cake more!! =]
ReplyDeleteYou like prune cake more?
DeleteYup!
DeleteNice! :)
DeleteI didn't get to try any cakes while I was there (as we were headed to any dessert place after that) but I heard a lot of people rave about their tiramisu but I'd gladly have that banana cake =)
ReplyDeleteYes, I saw their tiramisu so maybe will order next time if I ever visit there again.
DeleteLOL..bet Phong Hong's one have more prunes.
ReplyDeleteThat goes without saying. And without eatiing hers before. :)
DeleteAfter eat steak, then eat cakes. Heaven!
ReplyDeleteErh, actually we ate the cakes while waiting for the main dishes, hehehe! :)
Deletehah..hah...thanks for the mention :) Now you make me feel like baking a prune cake!
ReplyDeletewelcome! Please do bake a rich prune cake. :)
Deleteafter eat steak then cakes...i will go sleepy afterwards!
ReplyDeleteNot if you go window shopping afterwards! :D
DeleteMe too! I fall in love with her desserts everytime.. and the mousse in her latest post! OH MY! Like you, I think I ended up buying a piece for myself ... :)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately or fortunately, I only like solid cakes and not whipped cream or mousse, hehehe.
DeleteFirst time i heard bout prune cake, wonder how's the taste? ;)
ReplyDeleteA bit moist with prune taste.
DeleteI can never resist a good walnut cake! Love it, dear!
ReplyDeleteThis is more of a banana cake. The walnut is the sidekick. :D
DeleteThat's why shouldn't look at food pictures too much! See one time ok, two times ok, 20 times it's off to get some!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, you are right! :)
