Prune cake

I have been reading "Phong Hong Bakes & Cooks!" blog for quite a long time now and everytime I see her cakes, I wanted to eat cakes. Just look at one of her cakes, who wouldn't want to eat cakes after that.

So when I saw that Maria's Steakcafe serves cakes too, I ordered the following cakes:

A slice of Prune Cake - MYR9.50

A slice of Banana Walnut Cake - MYR9.50

Both slices of cakes are not too sweet so they are just right for my palate.

Hot Peppermint Tea (please ignore that coffee branded cup) - MYR6

Fresh Orange Juice with no added sugar - MYR11.50

  1. wow, you had Wagyu beef steak that day and further added on desserts?? haha, indeed pampering i would say.. the prune cake and banana walnut cake looks subtle but i can see they actually taste good, especially when you mentioned they are not too sweet, just nice for my palate too!! :)

    1. There were 4 of us there and I was the only one who ordered wagyu. Cakes with sweetness level that is just right definitely taste better than too sweet cakes.

  4. Looks good. Here, we have this steamed cake, all prune, all black. They call it "hati parek", dunno why. Very very nice...anyone coming here, must buy and bring home.

Banana cake - best is the one at Payung here, served with ice cream...the boss made himself and you can see the bits of banana in it. Those at the bakeries here...mostly essence and I hear they buy the not so good bananas to make.

    1. SR cakes are more cream than solid cakes. I prefer solid cakes like these.

  6. I like both cakes. Used to eat a lot of cakes when I worked in my 1st employment. Eat too many till I am not into cakes after that. Haha. Tasted prune cake once. Banana walnut is nice but fattening. Lol.

    1. Oh, does it work? So you mean I can go and eat many, many cakes until I do not want to eat cakes at all. Hahahaha, a good excuse for me to go and eat cakes then.

  7. I didn't get to try any cakes while I was there (as we were headed to any dessert place after that) but I heard a lot of people rave about their tiramisu but I'd gladly have that banana cake =)
