McD Taro Pie

I read about McD having a taro pie in Nux V's post so I decide to try it the next time I pass by a McD.

Taro Pie - MYR2.50 ++ (Total MYR2.65)

It is deep fried instead of baked and looks exactly like McD Apple Pie externally.

I am surprised that even the taro fillings have gooey sauce like McD apple pies' fillings. It just swapped the apple pieces with taro pieces.

Closed up - I can see  a few pieces of taro in the fillings. A bit on the sweet and oily side.

    1. The McD deep fried pies - both apple and taro - smell really really oily and I cannot stand the oil smell though they really don't taste that bad.

  4. Not my favourite. Maybe because it is sweet. I prefer savoury food when it comes to fried food.

  5. i was quite interested to try this, but then after reading your post, hmmm.. but no surprise they can make the fillings so gluey and gooey, must have added lots of additives inside huh??

  6. if not mistaken, McD in Thai has got this taro pie all the time (not just limited time like ours), i tried once before in Haadyai many years ago, it was nice and i remember they had more taro pieces with less sauce.. maybe after so many years, to balance the cost and price they have to use less taro but more sauce huh??

    1. But if you look at Nux V post, her McD Taro Pie looks like having more taro and less sauce.

    2. seems like the McD taro pie not consistent....yours is more liquid (even overflows out)...I prefer the solid one with more taro chunks...
      Yea, it was indeed sweet....just gotta drink lotsa water to flush out the sweetness.

    1. Apple pie is a bit sourish so I guess it is more tasty.

  9. I was underwhelmed by this... expected more since I like taro. But this was too much like their apple pie, no taro taste either.
