Happy to arrive at this corner coffee shop.
I couldn't believe my eyes although I did know that there is a possibility that the stall is not opened for business when we reached there.
Ok, take another look from behind just to make sure. Correct, not opened for business but all the other stalls are opened for business so we can just eat other food.
Ordered this bowl of Estuary Grouper fish (Loong Dan) balls mee hoon mixed with hor fun noodles - MYR6 - from another stall that only sells fish balls and fish cakes but no fish slices. The fish balls are very "bouncy" and "springy".
We ordered another bowl of just the Estuary Grouper Fish Balls and Fish cakes without any noodles to share - MYR6 also.
2 rolls of Chee Cheong Fun (ccf) with jicama in it and 1 beancurd sheet, 1 pork skin, 1 fried fish ball with curry - MYR5.60 and because we have leftover curry we bought another 1 sheet of plain flat ccf and 1 roll of plain ccf - MYR1.60 to eat with the extra curry. The ccf tastes good.
Kolo Mee - MYR5 - I like this kolo mee due to the soft noodle and I can tell that lard is used instead of normal cooking oil.
Mix pork noodles - MYR5.5 - decent enough and we ordered hot coffee (MYR1.30) and iced cham (coffee mix with tea) - MYR2.
On our way back, to make full use of this trip, we stopped by the Waterfront at Desa Park City to look around since I have always wanted to visit this place but kept putting it off due to it being located very far from where I live.
Ahhhhh!!!! Kuching kolo mee for the win!!! Hehehehehehe!!!! Not open kah? Did you find out which days it closes...so next time you can go again and not on those days? It would be good to give that info...so others intending to go would not encounter that same problem as you.
ReplyDeleteOops! Did not manage to find out. Too busy eating.
DeleteAiya all the way go there but closed.. Yeah I experienced this kinda thing also before, purposely go there to eat something but either closed or habis jor.. But nvm, like you said, can still eat other food :)
ReplyDeleteHabis is also cannot be helped.
Deleteyeah, at least still some other things to eat..
DeleteYes am lucky not all stalls are closed.
DeleteThat bowl of pork noodles looks not bad at all. And the CCF. Ahh I miss CCF now! The ones will curry + sweet sauce, with bean curd skin and pork balls >.<
ReplyDeleteYes my brother in Penang also tells me that only har ko ccf is available there. He also eats kl ccf whenever he gets back here to get his fix.
Deletei am still not convinced to mix the curry and sweet sauce together~~ :p
DeleteYou can't eat sweet and spicy together?
DeleteTrust me, that combi is the most awesome CCF sauce ever! :D
DeleteTry it try it sk! :)
DeleteNot all is lost then since you still managed to sample some other good food.
ReplyDeleteVery true.
Deleteyes, agree!!
DeleteWe are all yes (wo)men here. :)
DeleteHehehe finally a post about food in MY territory. :) (Not that I've ever been there) Go back la and try out the fish slice noodle.
ReplyDeleteYes finally! :)
Deleteaiyoh, what a disappointment that you purposely went to the place and only found out that it's not opening.. but at least you still have many other things to try, and what you have ordered seems to be not at all less interesting than the fish noodles alone.. :)
ReplyDeletei love those fishball, they really seem to be quite springy even just looking at the photo
the CCF with curry gravy, wow, have not been having this for quite some time.. and like you, i would love the pig skin to go with the curry :p
haha, the kolo mee should and must use lard right?? i cannot imagine if they are not using lard but just normal cooking oil.. that would taste awful!! :D
the pork noodles.. hmmm, i will ask not to have any internal organs but just plainly the pork slices and minced pork..
Halal mee uses normal cooking oil, right? Or do they use ghee instead?
DeleteNot that disappointed because I was prepared to face the possibility that it is closed.
that CCF looks appetizing...I like CCF in thick curry gravy with lotsa beancurd sheet.
ReplyDeleteI like beancurd sheets too.
DeleteWow! Kolok mee found in Sg Buloh. Not bad. Look just like the Kuching kolok mee. But RM5 was expensive.
ReplyDeleteI like the fish soup. Slurp.
MYR5 is the average price here. :)
DeleteOh Dear, Mun.. that means you got to make another trip again some day... sorry, I didn't know it is closed on Fridays.. of all days! I normally go on Saturdays cos that is the day I arrive most of the time.. Next time I try other food as shown by you! :)
ReplyDeleteI went on Thursday. I don't think it has a fixed day where it is closed.
DeleteThis is near my workplace but I am not sure where it is exactly. I need to ask Mamarazzi for directions. She is like a food compass to me. I think RM5.00 is the standard price now.
ReplyDeleteThe fish slice noodle is MYR22 a bowl! This place is very easy to find. It is along Persiaran Sungai Buluoh.
DeleteTesting, testing
ReplyDeleteYes, it is working.
DeleteAh it ate my previous comment.
ReplyDeleteOh ya, I was talking about Min Yee, they sell out very fast coz they don't carry as much fish as Ah Po (the other stall in this coffee shop, which carries everything from white pomfret for RM 14 to estuary groouper for RM 22).
It's operated by a mother-daughter team and they will also sell out by lunchtime so your best bet is to go early in the morning. We usually go around 9:30 am or latest by 10 am.
Oh, so sorry to hear this. Thanks for writing again. Ah, I don't think I can manage to reach there so early since I have to avoid morning rush hour unless I go on weekends. Maybe I try to go early one weekend. Thanks again. :)
