Can you tell what this is?
If I am not mistaken, this is flame seared (aburi) salmon mentai sushi roll with cucumber and meat floss inside. A bit too much mentai mayo for me.
Unagi sushi
Decent. I will have this again.
Aburi prawns mentai sushi
Side View. Quite acceptable.
It was not dinner time yet so there are not many people there.
Their opening hours.
10% service charge but no GST unlike what was stated on the notice at the door.
Sushi per plate of MYR1.80++ and MYR2.80++
Sushi Mentai at Kuchai Lama. This photo was taken before their opening day.
I thought why the priced their sushi at RM3.083 each so detailed down to a tenth-cent.. only to find out you divide the total by 3 plates of sushi.. or you can also say RM1.541667 per piece of sushi, haha!!
ReplyDeleteThe 3 plates cost the same each - that's why I just divide the total price by 3.
DeleteSomething light to fill up the tummy.
ReplyDeleteNot light if you eat many plates of sushi.
Deletethe so called flame seared (aburi)salmon mentai sushi roll with cucumber and meat floss looks good. Sushi in Malaysia is so cheap and affordable!
ReplyDeleteThis is a budget sushi outlet, that's why it is cheap.
DeleteWhat you have posted look good. I have to start to learn to appreciate sushi.
ReplyDeleteIf you do not want to eat raw food, there are many sushi made with cooked food like the tamago sushi and etc.
DeleteI've heard of this place. Pretty well-known around there. My girl went to a Japanese place here, and from what she said, she had something like the salmon one and the unagi one too - over RM30!!! So so so cheap there, definitely not here!
ReplyDeleteThis is a new sushi place, well known for its budget price, that's why I checked it out. Perhaps one day they will open a budget sushi place in Sibu.
DeleteThe first one is salmon mentai, of course. Too much mentai is not in my vocabulary! :D These three (including the prawn and unagi) are the ones I'd usually have too...like you said, decent for the price :)
ReplyDeleteHave to choose carefully for those decent ones.
DeleteI've a weakness for mentaiko, Mun. Anything with it works for me :D
ReplyDeleteLooks like mentai mayo is a favourite.
DeleteVery nice small portions. I must learn to eat like you :)
ReplyDelete3 plates will not be filling. I am sampling them only.
DeleteGood price and the sushi looks kind of different, not the common ones we have over here..
ReplyDeleteI must look at your blog again to see what kind of sushi you are referring to as the common ones.
DeleteHahaha same like ewew, "Too much mentai" does not exist in my vocab. Just like "Too much bacon" does not exit in my vocab too. Well, if you want to insist, then they do exist, under the Oxymoron section. :D :D
ReplyDeleteI've been back a few times to their outlet in Pg, always mentai all the way. Their ingredients here are not that fresh (cheap ma), if I don't go mentai, probably not enjoyable to me...
That's why I also don't dare to try those raw ones without mentai other than the cooked unagi because the raw ones do not look that fresh to me and may be unpalatable without any mentai.
DeleteSushi Mentai!!!
ReplyDeleteAn outlet just opened in Kota Damansara too. I didn't know until my better half told me about it. I bought sushi for the kids and my dear and myself for only RM 37++. It was quite a lot of food.
I've eaten most of the things you showed here too. It's quite cheap but not as good as some other places.
That said, for the price it's quite good! :)
Not as good as some other places is to be expected since this is budget sushi.
DeleteThey have one in Kota Damansara. I went there twice since my kids love sushi and I think is affordable for us who just like to eat sushi.
ReplyDeleteYes it is good that budget sushi place exists now so that more people can enjoy eating sushi.
DeleteMentai mayo is my favourite
ReplyDeleteYou too! Then this place is on the right track!
