Two Penang Kuey Teow Soup Noodles

On Sunday 7.jul.2024, we went out at 6.30 am which is very early for brunch after he read about two Penang kuey teow soup stalls in PJ Old Town.

Record of my topsy turvy sleep pattern:

Thursday night didn't sleep

Friday woke up at 6 am, slept at 5 am to 6 am, 4 pm to 9 pm

Saturday was up since Friday 9 pm so went to Pudu ICC at 7 am ish, slept at night from 9 pm to Sunday morning 4.30 am for 7.5 hours straight.

Sunday woke up at 4.30 am and went to PJ old town at 6.20 am ish.

Today at around 5 am it started raining. When we went out at 6.20 am ish, it was still drizzling. Being early on a Sunday means less traffic on the road and many available parking lots in PJ Old Town.

*** Soon Lee Coffee Shop Kuey Teow Th'ng ***

6.46 am - this coffee shop opens at 6 am so we went there early. We didn't see any chicken livers at the stall so we didn't ask the seller to add them. The soup tastes good. 2 of us shared one bowl of noodles.

6.50 am - his two soft boiled eggs and hot cham MYR 6 nett.

6.48 am - the stall is the 3rd stall from the right.

*** Hoong Jun coffee shop PJ State KT Th'ng ***

7.13 am - we walked about 3 mins to a nearby coffee shop to try the Penang style kuey teow th'ng of another stall which is popularly known as State Kuey Teow Th'ng. He added chicken hearts, livers and blood cubes so the total price is MYR 13 nett. Again, we shared one bowl of noodles. The chicken livers are very tender.

Verdict: both bowls of noodles are tasty so why not eat both if you happen to be in PJ Old Town. The noodles are not much so two persons can share two bowls.

7.09 am -  this is the State Kuey Teow Th'ng stall.

7.39 am - this is the Hoong Jun coffee shop with address: 64, Jalan 1/12, Seksyen 1, 46000 Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The stall is located in this coffee shop.

7.45 am - the rain has stopped but the sky is still grey. The PJ Old Town sign is here. I wanted to eat cendol at Auntie Peggy stall 46 and Jessie's Cendol Stall no 48 nearby but it is too early and the stalls are either not opened or only opens at around 10 am so we went to have my favourite iced salted butter coffee at hou's kopitiam taman continental so that I can call it a day.

Big Prawn Noodle Pudu ICC

On Saturday 6.jul.2024, went early to ICC at 7 am because I slept on Friday from 4 pm until 9 pm and didn't sleep after that so directly go ICC Pudu for food.

7.40 am - his big prawn Noodle MYR 18 nett. He says he detected a bit of milk in the broth which I couldn't detect. We ordered iced coffee MYR 4 from one nearby coffee stall. There are many stalls selling coffee in Pudu Icc food court.

7.43 am - this signboard with the big prawn is the big prawn Noodle stall.

7.43 am - he also ordered char kway teow MYR 9 nett.

7.36 am - the whole Pudu ICC is full of people. Everyone wakes up early?

9 am - he bought 4 items from bunn Choon and ate one charcoal egg tart when this photo was snapped.

9.05 am - I ate half the the kaya puff and pineapple tart. No butter but the pastry crust is crispy.

He also bought iced Hainan drink, stomach pepper soup and duck leg MYR 16 nett for his early dinner. I didn't eat dinner so my omad was completed after the pastry.

Annual Appointment

On Friday 7.jul.2024, woke up early at 6 am after going to sleep one hour before that at 5 am to pick up the elderly for the prostate yearly doctor appointment at the hospital.

*** Char Siew Yoong ***

12.03 noon - I ordered black beans soup and put the rice he gave me into the soup. The soup tastes similar to chicken soup. The reason is because I put the chicken rice into the soup.

12.02 noon - all the food that he ordered.

12.42 noon - when we exited the eatery, there were many people queuing outside the eatery.

11.58 am - the food he ordered:

1. One strip siew yuk for two pax 28+

2. Char siew 2 pax 28+

3. Roasted chicken thigh 8+

4. Spicy sour vege soup 10+

5. Two bowls of rice 3.6+

6. Watercress soup 7.5+

7. Black bean soup 7.5+

Total MYR 98.15 nett for 3 pax.

The elderly has a good appetite and ate all the meat and rice for a portion that is quite large.

Organic Unbleached Pistachios

On Thursday 4.jul.2024, it was raining in the morning making the weather cool and nice to sleep in. When the rain has subsided, we went to eat brunch at Thong Kee Sri Petaling, parked the car at pinnacle condo.

10.45 am - he ordered this curry noodles which is not very spicy MYR 10.50 nett and two curry puffs MYR 4.60 nett from the main drinks stall.

10.43 am - his hot Cham drink MYR 3.30 nett which tastes very good with the curry puffs. I didn't order any drinks. We shared all the food and drink. The chicken thigh prawn hor fun MYR 13 nett tastes good as before. 👍 

10.46 am - total price of items from the main stall is MYR 18.40 nett.

*** Pistachios ***

7.04 pm 3jul2024 - received this bag of 1kg organic Unbleached Pistachios. The colour is slightly brownish. Tastes better than the white bleached pistachios. Slightly salted but when all skins are removed, they taste naturally sweet.

Redeemed 1324 shopeecoins so the price is MYR 44.94 nett for 1 kg inclusive of delivery fees. Got back 398 shopeecoins.

Ate pistachios after eating brunch at Thong Kee.

On Wednesday 3.jul.2024, in the morning, the following conversation took place:

M: go rakuzen

H: don't want. Expensive 

M: ok, simply eat then.

I told him ok la, now go on austerity measures to ensure got funds till 2071 because if unlucky, at most can last 1 century only.

1.35 pm - must remove all the skins from the left pistachio to be like the right pistachio so that it is not salty.

On Monday 1.jul.2024, went to nearby million ocean for brunch but many stalls were not opened so we walked to Tim won and it was the same, many stalls were not opened so we crossed the road to Fatty Mok and ordered food but not drinks. Went back to million ocean for coffee and found out that there is a water supply disruption since the previous day. That is why so many stalls were closed.
