Mid of this year, I went for a 2-days trip to Taipei and as usual I must stop by my favourite dessert shop which is 雙連圓仔湯 (Shuāng lián yuán zǐ tāng).
As with my previous trips, I bought a prepacked savoury snack with skin made from glutinous rice flour and Ramie Leaves (粗叶) which gives it the greenish hue but with different fillings.
Instead of shredded radish fillings like before, this time I chose mung bean fillings which I find to be coarse and on the dry side. After eating this, I prefer the previous shredded radish fillings.
I ordered 4 toppings (added red kidney beans) instead of 3 (taro, lotus seed, peanut) so the price is TWD 110 instead of TWD 100 and requested for syrup to be omitted from the ice shavings. The taste is just as good as it was back in 2014.
Total price for 3 items: TWD 205 (about MYR 28.50 nett at an exchange rate of TWD100:MYR13.90 ) shared by 2 pax.
Never tried anything like these before, dunno if they have these at the Taiwan places here - seems mighty popular.
ReplyDeleteThe ice yes, the green mochi like thingy - not sure.
DeleteThe ice shaving reminds me of Snowflakes here in Msia. Well at least to me it is the closest I can get as I have never been to Taiwan
ReplyDeleteDo you have plans to go visit there?
DeleteI have never tasted these Taiwan desserts before. I like the one with the ice shaving.
ReplyDeleteI think ipoh should have eateries that serve this.
DeleteSo nice, the Taiwan desserts!
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteWe have these taiwan desserts place in sg, they call it blackball something
ReplyDeleteBlackball used to be here as well but I wonder did all of them leave or are there still some around.
DeleteYour bowl looks like it has all 'toppings' only!
ReplyDeleteHehehehe, yes the ice is hidden underneath the toppings.
