Some desserts we ordered
Peanuts sweet soup. The peanuts are boiled until they are so soft that they just melt in our mouths.
Peanuts, Lotus Seeds, Taro cubes with ice shavings without any syrup so it is just right for me as I don't like very sweet food. The lotus seeds are very soft too.
Prepacked savoury snack.
Greenish in colour
The fillings are shredded radish. I believe this is the Taiwan version of Chu Yap Ban (粗叶粄) which is made from glutinous rice flour and Ramie Leaves (粗叶) for the skin.

Don't mind peanut soup, ice cold and rich with milk. One good one here but not at one of those Taiwan dessert shops, mighty expensive - the ones here and not nice.
ReplyDeleteTaiwanese shops in KL also cannot reproduce the same good taste as those in Taipei mainly because they did not import the exact taro, lotus seeds and peanuts from the same source but rather source the ingredients from "I don't know where" so those that I have eaten KL do not taste nice at all.
DeleteThe ban looked sweet to me.
ReplyDeleteBut I am always on for cold dessert.
It is more savoury than sweet.
DeleteYum. I'm a dessert person and I'd love to try this.
ReplyDeletePlease do when you visit Taipei one day. :)
DeleteI would prefer red beans, sago and corn.. Would love love love to have a bite of this, yummzzz..
ReplyDeleteYes, you can choose this red beans, sago and corn combination. It is up to you to mix and match. :)
Deletepeanut sweet soup?! this sounds just too good...
ReplyDeleteTaste good too! :)
DeleteThe paperback packaging very nice, usually people just put a plastic layer is enough, but this one got extra.
ReplyDeleteI think they package it nicely so that people can buy as gifts for friends back home.
Deletethis dessert soup is healthy and for beauty too..we should drink more often.
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't know that. I only eat them because they are tasty! ;)
DeleteNot my type of dessert I'm afraid :)
ReplyDeleteIf you just choose red beans, taro, milk with shaved ice, it would be exactly like the Da Jia Yam red bean shaved ice in my previous post except that this taro is cut into smaller cubes. What is it that you doesn't like?
DeleteI am not a dessert person, but once in a while, during hot weather I would love to have a ice cold dessert
ReplyDeleteIce cold dessert is always welcomed on a hot day.
DeleteI like to try a bit of everything... surely cannot finish them all but love to taste them all...
ReplyDeleteI have been to this eatery for about 10 times now but still have not tried a bit of everything, hehehehe.
DeleteOooo I want the real taro cubes, lotus seeds and peanuts combination. If possible I want to taste everything. Ha ha greedy me!
ReplyDeleteCan try everything but have to go in a large group or go many times. :)
DeleteMmm interesting, I would like to try both if I have the chance.. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, please try when you visit Taipei. :)
DeleteI like peanut soup, maybe one of these days should try boiling myself.
ReplyDeleteIf boil using pressure cooker, the peanuts will retain their shape yet are soft till melts in the mouths.
DeleteThe closest I can relate to the desserts is Snowflake. Something like that la hor?
ReplyDeleteMuch much better than snowflake because this is totally mix and match and ingredients are more delicious because of different source but you got the basic concept that is like that.
DeleteI have tried that dessert somewhere many times in Taiwan and loved it.
ReplyDeleteThat greenish snack is again a new thing which I had never seen. You like it??
Yes, I like it. :)
DeleteOMG!!! I've eaten that green ball too! It also comes in yellow. The smell is very...unusual. It kinda stinks a little, I was told it's coz of one of the veggies inside. It also contains pork. I like it too. I had it at a restaurant.
ReplyDeleteI think the one you had contains bamboo shoots so that is why you feel that it stinks a little. :)
