A big thank you to my friend who gave me a cold treat in this hot weather - Ais Kacang (Shaved ice with red beans, corns, cendol and etc). I think it costs MYR5.60 ++ (about MYR6.55 nett).
I know that I said I won't be eating at this place again but then we need a comfy place to catch up on 8 months' worth of info with each other and this venue fits the bill.
I had a choice of rose syrup or palm syrup (gula melaka) to go with this ice shavings and I chose the former because sometimes the palm syrup used could be the variety that I don't like the taste of so I select rose syrup which taste is more consistent as I did not want to take a risk on that. Overall it is tasty except for the few small glutinous rice balls (mochi) that seemed to be uncooked but I ate them all. :)
I ate ice kacang yesterday afternoon right after lunch because I was so thirsty and hot. It is great to catch up with friends over a bowl of ice kacang.
ReplyDeleteIce kacang is always easy to eat.
DeleteWeather is getting hotter, nice to have ice kacang in this hot weather, inside aircon place even more shiok
ReplyDeleteYou are right! :)
DeleteBy the way, your dates do not match with the calendar leh, now still not sunday yet
ReplyDeleteHahaha, so you noticed! :D
DeleteI've written off that franchise place, expensive, not nice...and service is very very slow. None here, last I went was to one in Kuching, a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteGood then there is none at your place. :)
DeleteI prefer the traditional ice kacang that served at the road side. Tastier and cheaper. Haha.
ReplyDeleteIt depends. Not all road side ABCs are nice.
Deleteais kacang is my fav (on a hot day)...I like it with lotsa red beans, corns, and yes, adequate rose syrup.
ReplyDeleteOh, you like rose syrup in your ABC too?
Deleteyes, I dislike gula Melaka, and rose syrup got the rose fragrant..haha!
DeleteI also like rose syrup! :)
DeleteI need a bowl of ABC now, weather is damn hot!
ReplyDeleteHot in KL too.
DeleteGood choice, their gula melaka... cannot one. If I thought Turkish Delights and Magnum Gold are too sweet, their gula melaka are too sweet x10. At least that's what I feel lah...
ReplyDeleteThanks for confirming that their gula melaka is not those nice type.
DeleteI dont' like this place either...poor service, food so so and expensive but I think ABC still ok lah.
ReplyDeleteThe glutinous rice balls taste like uncooked leh.
DeleteInteresting! I didn't know Old Town had ice kacang. Yeah, the food isn't really nice, but it's nice to have meetings there, both for business and pleasure.
ReplyDeleteTrue, can sit there for a long time if it is not peak hours.
DeleteLong time since I had ABC. I hardly go for desserts since hubby doesn't like them. If I do also, have to eat fast-fast and then it's no fun anyway.
ReplyDeleteGo for desserts during your lunch time during work days!
DeleteOur extremely hot weather is killing me and my air cons are running full blasts all day which is not my normal way.
ReplyDeleteI have been eating ice creams and ice kachangs often too.
So have you eaten your pink and black magnum?
