Looks do not matter

A big thank you to my friend who gave me a cold treat in this hot weather - Ais Kacang (Shaved ice with red beans, corns, cendol and etc). I think it costs MYR5.60 ++ (about MYR6.55 nett).

I know that I said I won't be eating at this place again but then we need a comfy place to catch up on 8 months' worth of info with each other and this venue fits the bill.

I had a choice of rose syrup or palm syrup (gula melaka) to go with this ice shavings and I chose the former because sometimes the palm syrup used could be the variety that I don't like the taste of so I select rose syrup which taste is more consistent as I did not want to take a risk on that. Overall it is tasty except for the few small glutinous rice balls (mochi) that seemed to be uncooked but I ate them all. :)

  1. I ate ice kacang yesterday afternoon right after lunch because I was so thirsty and hot. It is great to catch up with friends over a bowl of ice kacang.

  4. I've written off that franchise place, expensive, not nice...and service is very very slow. None here, last I went was to one in Kuching, a few years ago.

  5. I prefer the traditional ice kacang that served at the road side. Tastier and cheaper. Haha.

  8. Good choice, their gula melaka... cannot one. If I thought Turkish Delights and Magnum Gold are too sweet, their gula melaka are too sweet x10. At least that's what I feel lah...

  10. Interesting! I didn't know Old Town had ice kacang. Yeah, the food isn't really nice, but it's nice to have meetings there, both for business and pleasure.

  11. Long time since I had ABC. I hardly go for desserts since hubby doesn't like them. If I do also, have to eat fast-fast and then it's no fun anyway.
