Auckland posts: Most of the time we ate lunch in the office itself. One of our local colleagues would take our orders and buy takeaways for us from the nearby eateries. One of our usual lunches is from Pita Pit - a pita wrap.
The choices are Plain, Wholemeal or Gluten Free Pita Bread and all pitas include choice of fillings, sauces, a spread and cheese. The above photo is my choice of wholemeal pita bread with roast lamb, all vegetable fillings: pineapple, gherkins, carrot, cucumber, olives, mushrooms, jalapenos, shredded lettuce, beetroot, corn, tomatoes, green bell peppers (capsicum), and onions, with avocado spread, feta cheese and no sauce. It is so delicious!

My lunch on another day: Falafel Pita (vegetarian)
All vegetable fillings with chickpea patties in wholemeal pita bread.
Look at the amount of vegetables - so tasty!
What is a pita pit? Looks like one of those wraps, it looks yummy
ReplyDeleteFrom Wiki: Pita or pitta is also known as Arabic Bread or Lebanese Bread or Syrian Bread, is a soft, slightly leavened flatbread baked from wheat flour that originated in the Near East.
DeleteFrom the dictionary: Pit is an area reserved or enclosed for a specific activity.
So Pita Pit just means an area that serves Pita if you want the meaning but in this case, Pita Pit is the name of the restaurant that serves healthy Pita wraps. Started in Canada and has outlets in a few countries.
At one time, we were making a lot of these - when those Mission wraps first hit town. Guess we've gone past that phase now.
ReplyDeleteThere are other brands available here but we never bothered with those as they are so expensive, Old Paso, I think - one of the brands.
Wah, you are so diligent to cut up and prepare so many types of vegetables to make your wraps. It is healthy to eat this way so why not continue making them?
DeleteWow. So much infredients in the pita.
ReplyDeleteTrue, so many types of vegetables in the pita.
DeleteNeed to open mouth big big to eat!
ReplyDeleteYes, Yes, or else the ingredients will fall all over the place.
DeleteIf me.. I would have one of these all veggie pita for showing the mom. As for the rest... well... they have a lot of meat choices too right? But then I probably wouldn't order pita very often. Just like when I was in the US, I had more Carl's Jr than I had Subway :/
ReplyDeleteYes, you can choose one type of meat to go into the pita and the rest are vegetables which will probably be too much vegetables for you to take but you can and will eat them for your health. No Carl's Jr nearby so Carl's Jr is not a choice for lunch but we had subway for lunch too. Pita Pit has outlets in USA too.
DeleteI mean, I would be like "Can I have more meats and less of those veggies in mine?" and then I be like... [STOP TALKING!!]
DeleteLess veggies definitely no problemo but more meats, they may charge that as additional portion of meat making your pita wrap more expensive than usual.
DeleteI remember eating this pita in US... and ended up spilling here and there.. must open mouth bigger... :)
ReplyDeletePita Pit is from Canada and has outlets in USA so you did eat the same thing. Yes, the ingredients do tend to drop out. :)
DeleteWow! I would enjoy the pita very much!
ReplyDeleteIt would be no problemo for you to make the pita at home and bring them to your office for lunch.
DeleteI would enjoy it too! I like crunchy succulent lettuce in pita!
ReplyDeleteToo bad no pita pit here. Someone should bring the franchise in but then most people here prefer to eat meat and hot meals so maybe the market is limited here.
DeleteI will certainly enjoy this pita pit with all the ingredients.
ReplyDeleteI am sure you will as you like to eat vegetables.
DeleteI only get to eat pita here at Chicken Nandos. It is very delicious & filling. Thank you for listing out the ingredients as I plan to make these wraps for our dinner next week!
ReplyDeleteWah, you are so diligent to make your own wraps with so many types of vegetables. Good for you!
DeleteGosh there's tons of stuff in there.
ReplyDeleteYes there are! So I have so many types of different vegetables to prepare if I were to make my own.
