Knotted beancurd sheets

My lunch back in 2015, bought from the vegetarian stall in the food court at The Sphere, Bangsar South. Surprisingly the vegetarian stall sells hard boiled eggs in sambal gravy.

  1. I like that name knotted bean curd sheet! I never had idea what it was called...
Some vegetarian restaurants used eggs in their ingredients while those who avoid could be followers of certain Buddhism sects. The duck egg religion only eats duck eggs and they have plenty of followers in Taiwan.

    2. You need to google the words Duck Egg Religion in Taiwan to be able to see them. I heard they are banned in China and Singapore today besides the Falun Gong. I have a friend here who is a staunch follower and often made my eyes roll with his cult preachings.

  5. I never liked these knotted beancurd skins, because some call it their vegetarian chicken. I am anti most of those vegetarian meat because I don't like the idea of cheating yourself by being vegetarian when you crave meat, with the exception of vegetarian goose because those are delicious! I prefer deep fried beancurd skin (which vegetarian goose is one of its form) :P .

    1. We are free to scoop as much sambal gravy as we like. I intentionally try to get as little sambal gravy on my egg as possible since I cannot take spicy food.
