Auckland posts: For one lunch, my local colleagues decided to go to an international food court. I did not know what to order and then decided I better eat some vegetables so I ordered stir fry mix vegetable with tofu from a Thai stall with plain rice and this was served. Not what I expected. Too much black sauce and the vegetables are under cooked, too hard for my teeth. I forced myself to finish the food because vegetables are good for me.

Interior - what a traditional look
Oops. Better to eat more fruits because it doesn't look delicious. Lol!
ReplyDeleteI only have oranges and kiwis so must take the opportunity to eat green vegetables too.
DeleteI do find that at the Thai place here, the one with the new Thai chef - he adds some kind of sauce, probably fish sauce - Thais love that - but I would not say it would go down well with everything everytime. Sometimes it is better to go without.
ReplyDeleteYou are right that they love fish sauce but there is no fish sauce in my dish above. Just plain old thick sweet black soy sauce I think so it makes the dish more chinese style than thai style.
DeleteNot surprising, Thai style always very flamboyant and in-your-face in terms of flavors.
ReplyDeleteNot much flavour for this. Just the thick sweet soy sauce taste.
DeleteI can see there are much black sauce on the dish. Good thing you can pair with white rice.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. I think they just use the thick sweet black soy sauce to stir fry the vegetables and tofu.
DeleteHow's the price in NZ food courts? I know it's not worth going to the ones in Australia. Prices are crazy so we rather go to restaurants.
ReplyDeleteThe minimum on average is about NZD10. Restaurants prices are above NZD20.
DeleteFrom the photo, couldn't tell that it was not tasty. I would have loved this vegetable dish. Too bad they put so much sauce.
ReplyDeleteYou like to eat those thick sweet soy sauce taste?
DeleteI would opt for something asian too.. well, I think Malaysian food spoil us, Mun.. hahahaa
ReplyDeleteThere are no western food in this food court. I prefer Western food and I think M'sian food is too salty because I usually cook without using any sugar, salt or soy sauce when I cook.
Deletethe tofu dish looks OK to me...I tink I can eat 2 bowls of rice with this generous portion of veggies.
ReplyDeleteYou are a big eater then. :)
DeleteI don't like too much thick sweet soy sauce
ReplyDeleteMe neither.
DeleteThe food court really looks like Asian styles in Malaysia, Thailand and etc. I expected them to look better and classy. I would not want to eat Asian food there as even the Asian chefs seem to cook not up to standard.
ReplyDeleteAsian food court so must look like those here I guess.
DeleteForce yourself to eat since you paid for it!
ReplyDeleteLunch is paid by my employer, not me but I still finished eating the vegetables and tofu because vegetables are good for us and not to waste food.
DeleteHehe ok ok.
DeleteHehehe...
