WG Bye Bubba Gump Curve

Last year (Oct 2017), my friend and I wanted to order "Shrimper's Heaven" at Bubba Gump, Sunway Pyramid which consists of Breaded Coconut Shrimp, Grilled Shrimp, Crisp Golden Shrimp and Tempura Shrimp with Fries served with dips such as Tangy Asian, Cajun Marmalade, and Zesty Cocktail but we were told that the breaded coconut shrimp is not available so this item is off the menu for that day.

Recently (Feb 2018), we were at The Curve so we went to Bubba Gump and ordered this dish at MYR65.90++ (10% service charge and 6% GST = MYR76.85 nett) with two glasses of warm water (foc).

Shrimper's Heaven - the shrimps were served in 4 cones with the fries below the shrimps in the cones.

Top view - After looking at the content in the cones, I noticed that something is amiss. Can you tell what it is? There are two cones containing Crisps Golden Shrimps and Tempura Shrimps are missing. So we asked the waiter and was told that Tempura Shrimps are not available so they were replaced with Crisps Golden Shrimps. 

Previously at the Sunway Pyramid branch, Coconut Shrimps were not available and they refused to serve us this dish because they told us they could not replace the Coconut Shrimps with another item. This time, at the Curve branch, they served us this dish without the Tempura Shrimps and did not even inform us beforehand. They just replaced the Tempura Shrimps with Crisps Golden Shrimps. We did not mind at all because all we wanted is to eat shrimps but we find it odd that the two branches acted so differently.

It does not matter now because on 1 March 2018, it was announced that Bubba Gump is closing 2 of its 3 outlets (at The Curve and Citta Mall) in this country effective immediately leaving only the outlet at Sunway Pyramid which is sad for us because we did enjoy this dish and we prefer the outlet at The Curve.

I was at The Curve last Friday (2 March 2018) and here is one last look before all the signage is removed.

The whole restaurant is now boarded up. From the news, it is reported that they have been here for the last 10 years.

Total bill for 2 pax for just 1 dish is MYR 76.85 nett.
