Pink Magnum

It was in September 2014 that I last ate a Magnum ice cream. Recently I saw a pink version and I couldn't help myself  so I bought one to try.

Pink Pomegranate Magnum. 7-11 sells this at MYR4.80 nett but I got it from Speedmart 99 at MYR4.10 nett. Other convenient stores sell it at MYR4.50 nett.

Luckily the coating is just slightly pink and not glaringly pink like its wrapper. The pink coating tastes like white chocolate and is very, very sweet.

Underneath the pink coating is a chocolate coating. Within the hard coating is the soft ice cream which tastes a bit like yogurt and the pink swirl in the ice cream is supposed to taste like pomegranate but since I don't remember exactly how pomegranate tastes like, all I can say is that the pink swirl has a pleasant strong taste so do try this if you like the smooth slippery feel of Magnum ice cream.

When compared to the very sweet pink coating, the soft ice cream inside is not that sweet although still sweet. Not for those who dislike very sweet food.

  1. Magnums were my very very favorite ice-cream when I was a kid. I remember that back then, the only flavors they had were: milk chocolate & almond , dark chocolate and white chocolate....... I was suuuuch a sucker for white ones, but they were so rare :D I tried a pink one as well, but either I'm older, or I just don't like the Pomegranate taste... Probably, I'm just a white chocolate fan :)

  2. first it was Gold, then White and now Pink?! sure a clever way to boost their Sales! I wonder if there is Green (lime) or Blue (Blueberry)? LOL! I tried the Gold before and it was very very sweet too.

  5. Magnum ice cream! My favourite. I still go for the classic one. I am not really into too sweet stuff. Once in a blue moon, okay with me.

  7. Yes, I've tried. It's VERY nice. The other new one, coffee or expresso or something, has a hint of bitterness to it - may not go down too well with a lot of people.

    1. You can eat a bit of the coating because the ice cream itself is sweet but not very sweet. As you can eat some of the desserts you have posted about, I am sure you will be able to tolerate the sweetness of this ice cream without the coatings.

    1. Save the coating to eat a little at a time since that is too sweet. The ice cream inside is ok, sweet but not too sweet.

    2. The original one, yes. But this pink one, sounds like the pink coating is those too-sweet coating. No thanks...

    3. Then ok lah, you can eat this lah. Just take one bite of the coating and peel the rest off to keep in your freezer to eat one tiny piece as dessert after your dinner for one week. The ice cream is nice with the pomegranate swirl so you can eat it in one go without the coating.

    1. Remove the coating to eat bit by bit by storing it in the freezer. Just eat the inner ice cream. The pink swirl is tasty.
