you ate the flowers raw??? how does it tastes like? This is my first time to encounter such veggie but it looks like a mixture of Artichoke and Cauliflower and Brocolli to me
I like kailan too!! it's my favorite leafy greens I have to say.. I haven't seen a full blossom before, the most are the yellow buds only and before they bloom, they would have already been cooked and gone into my stomach.. :D
Looks like everyone and I have never seen this pretty flowers. In Thailand, I ate so many types of flowers from my grandpa's garden. They just dipped into spicy Thai sambal belacan to eat like ulam.
Lovely flower. Usually the kailan fa we see is just small yellowish buds. Haha. Btw I just cooked them for dinner tonight. I usually toss away the flower buds but they are edible.
First time seeing these, familiar with only the leaves. You plant your own?
ReplyDeleteHow I wish!

Not much taste, just a faint fragrance.
DeleteI've never seen the flower.. Only cooked and ate the vege before.. Stir fry with just garlic, then add salt, nice enough..
ReplyDeleteYes, stir fry with just garlic is the usual case in dai chow stall.

ReplyDeleteI also have not seen the flowers before this.
DeleteI've not seen the flowers before...hope you bought organic ones to consume raw!
ReplyDeleteI hope so too. I did not buy them.
DeleteI am just as curious as the rest. How does the flower taste like?
ReplyDeleteNot much taste. You can just taste a tinge of fragrance in your mouth.
DeleteYou ate the flowers raw? Wow... very adventurous.. If Kale, I have eaten before but not the flower..
ReplyDeleteYes, just the flowers since they are only two small ones.

Wah, you are so experience in eating flowers. Which one taste nicest to you?

ReplyDeleteWhy do you toss them away since they are edible?
DeleteI have only seen the buds, not the fully bloomed flowers. Wow, you at it raw. To do that, I will need some kind of dip.
ReplyDeleteJust two tiny flowers, having a dip would be overkill.
DeleteI have eaten the buds and flower blanched or stir fried. Not adventurous enough to try it raw.
ReplyDeleteI guess it is risky since it could contain pesticide.
DeleteFirst time seeing this, indeed very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed! :)
DeleteIt looks beautiful! It's like something a high end restaurant would serve on a plate and call it modernist salad.
ReplyDeleteNever knew can bloom like this! So big the flower.
