Crispy Salmon Skin with Pork Floss - MYR6.90 nett (inclusive of 10% service charge and 6% GST). They are super duper crispy and totally not oily and without any fishy taste until I wonder are they real salmon skin. They have been drizzled with a bit of yellow sauce which I suspect is lemon honey sauce because it is sourish sweet and it enhances the taste of the crispy salmon skin. Very delicious so we will order this again.
I was very thirsty so I ordered this cold Lime with Plum Juice drink (MYR6.90 nett) to quench my thirst thinking that it would be very refreshing since I requested for it to be less sweet but it was very, very sweet - either the waiter has forgotten about my request for it to be less sweet or the plum juice was premixed with lots of sugar so not going to order this ever.
Mango Pomelo Sago with ice shavings - MYR10.40 nett. This is a winner so I will always order this unless I can find a similar dessert that is more affordable elsewhere.
Honey BBQ Pork (Char Siew) Bao - MYR5.7 nett - taste and texture is acceptable. I can't remember whether there were 2 or 3 baos in one bamboo basket. The photo above may have been taken after one bun has been eaten.
Total Bill came up to MYR29.90 nett for 2 pax for this light snack.
Many are not fond of fish skin, I love it! My girl likes it if it is grilled till really crispy. Ummmm...how come the salmon's white?
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've heard/read, it seems that people look for char siew buns that are gaping open - I'm fine with those all-closed ones as long as they taste great and the skin is good, not mushy.
The salmon skin is white if you just take the skin only without any of its red meat.
DeleteThe char siew buns are not mushy though they are not gaping open until the fillings are exposed.
I don't fancy salmon skin at all but I would very welcome the buns and the drinks and especially the mango pomelo sago, hehe!! I noticed you recalculated the actual amount paid for each item on the receipt.. but I wonder why the rounding is 5sen to the next 10sen?? it is not the standard practice..
ReplyDeleteWhy not? No fishy taste at all and is very, very crispy.
DeleteI did not notice the rounding. :( Wah, you are so meticulous to scrutinise the bill closely and noticed that.
I would love to try that crispy salmon. Your plum juice is very refreshing. I love it!!
ReplyDeleteNoooooo, the plum juice was too sweet until it was not refreshing at all. It was a torture to drink such a sweet drink.
DeleteCrispy salmon skin sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteThis one is because it is very crispy and not oily.
DeleteI like all kinds of fried fish skin.. My mum or mil fries fish, I sapu the skin first, hehe..
ReplyDeleteThen you will like this very much. :)
DeleteI love crispy salmon skin! I usually get to eat that at the Japanese restaurant.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen this in Japanese restaurants, only in Cantonese HK restaurants. I need to open my eyes wider.
DeleteIt does look like real salmon skin and since it's not fish, that's good right? Someone recommended me to try the salmon skin here too.
ReplyDeleteTes, that's good. :) so will you be making a visit to this place for this?
DeleteYou make it sound so delicious. Would love to try both the Salmon skin and the mango pomela sago.
ReplyDeleteIf you are in One Utama, no harm dropping by here to eat.
DeleteThe food above suit me real fine... Haven't tried the salmon skin with meat floss before.. and the way you described it, I am all for it!
ReplyDeleteYes, next time you are in One Utama, you can try this. :)
DeleteGreat place! I will bring my old man there this weekend to eat.
ReplyDeleteHe will love the mango pomelo sago and siew bao dumplings.
Hope he likes the food there! :)
DeleteLooks pretty good actually!
ReplyDeleteI think you have eaten here before, haven't you?
Deletefirst time seeing crispy salmon skin in the menu. Didn't notice about it when I had my meal in Sheng Kee last time.
ReplyDeleteI did not notice whether or not they updated their menu to this new one. Maybe they did, maybe not.
DeleteHave not tried salmon skin before
ReplyDeleteFor sure, this item is available in restaurants in SG.
DeleteI love crispy salmon skin. The first time I had it, I thought I was eating fried seaweed!
ReplyDeleteI did not know that they serve this here. Next time I must go check it out :D
Yes, do go check it out as I find the price very affordable and since you go to One Utama weekly, right?
Deleteif there are parts of the fish that I really like the most, it is either the fatty area of the fish or the skin!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the skin more than the fatty areas of the fish.
DeleteHoney BBQ Pork means Char Siew Bao? Hahahaha............
ReplyDeleteYes.
