Brunch for two at Nyonya Color, Midvalley Mall.
Nasi Lemak Beef Rendang - MYR13.75 nett. We have eaten this here a few times but this dish has never appeared here. I must have missed writing about it. A decent nasi lemak. The portion of rice is much smaller than a few years ago.
My favourite roti jala (was mentioned here previously) - soft and doughy. Roti Jala with Curry Chicken - MYR11.60 nett. There are two pieces of chicken in the curry - a whole drumstick and a small piece of thigh meat on bone with some potatoes. The curry is on the salty side. I wish they would just sell me the roti jala without the curry chicken because I could just eat those on their own.
We also ordered a glass of hot Teh Tarik (Pulled Milk Tea) - MYR3.70 nett and requested for it to be "kurang manis" (less sweet) and "kau kau" (to be thick with a heavier tea taste). Total price: MYR29.05 nett.
All the Nyonya kuihs (minimum price is MYR1.17 nett for a small piece) in the glass shelves are calling to me but with limited stomach space, I could only look at them sadly because it was either them or roti jala and the latter won.
The moment I saw the first photo, I knew where you went already. Hehehehehe!!!!
ReplyDeleteWah, you are so smart! :)
DeleteCurry chicken is my favourite anytime...I love Teh Tarik too
ReplyDeleteTime to go eat some? ;)
DeleteWhat is roti jala? First time seeing it
ReplyDeleteIn BM, roti means bread and jala means net. This is because when you unroll the roti jala, it has lots of holes like a fishing net.
DeleteHaha. Roti jala is better and tempting than the nyonya kuih. Lol.
ReplyDeleteNasi lemak any day for me. And I also love my teh tarik just like yours.
I also can eat nasi lemak any day any time. :)
DeleteWhen I see Kau Kau, I thought you want to write about Milo Kau or any tea Kau, haha.. I don't fancy roti jala, not full, haha.. I like the nasi lemak though..
ReplyDeleteYou are another smart one like STP! Thumbs up! :)
DeleteRati Jala for tea break would be fine, Rendang beef looks nice.
ReplyDeleteI can eat roti jala anytime! :)
DeleteI've only been to Nyonya Colors once, it is always packed with people and that time I went was because I could find a table.. hmmm, must be agency brunch for you?? I thot the portion is a little too much for your small stomach.. or too good you could eat them all?? :p
ReplyDeleteWhat is an "agency brunch"? I don't work for an agency. I only ate the roti jala and one drumstick. The other piece of chicken meat I gave to my friend. Roti jala is very light, not heavy at all so I can finish eating all 5 rolls.
DeleteI never tasted roti jala... but I tasted roti telur and roti canai long back.. but as far as I remember those were delicious too.. :)

Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment. :)
DeleteI wouldn't be able to leave without packing home some nyonya kuih ;)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to but then changed my mind because I don't want to get fat since I have eaten so much curry that day my fat quota for the day has been filled, hahaha! :)
DeleteI noticed from your postings that you are quite a small eater. I've only dined at Nyonya Colours once. Somehow I dont really like it there and prefer Penang Flavours (in 1U) but I don't know if they are still as good as I have not been there for quite some time now.
ReplyDeleteLet me think which one is Penang Flavours in 1U. Thinking.. thinking.. thinking..
DeleteI must go there one day and sample the Nasi Lemak and Roti Jala.
ReplyDeleteThe portion may be too small for you but you can order and eat them both. :)
DeleteWahhh.. really not cheap for a piece of kueh hor? That day I just didn't want to look at the price, if I did, I would end up eating less than what I have ordered... hahahaa...
ReplyDeleteVery true. I only allow myself one piece of kueh for one visit, hehehehe.
Deleteoh I thought at first glance those yellow rolls were bread but in closer image it seems like a rolled omelet , dough or pasta or something.. it looks great though
ReplyDeleteIt is made from wheat and coconut milk.
DeleteWe had Nyonya Colors in KLIA 2 and it wasn't nice at all. My better half told me it's nicer outside the airport so maybe it's just the kitchen at the airport branch.
ReplyDeleteI ate at kluang station in klia2 and the food is not nice at all.
