Beef Tendon

\
This is what I wanted to eat when my friend was eating Yoshinoya beef rice - Braised Beef La Mian at Din Tai Fung, MidValley MegaMall - MYR20.50 - for the two pieces of soft beef tendon in the noodle and that one piece of very tender beef with tendon in the meat. This bowl will last me till end of the year.

Can't eat here and not order the Xiao Long Bao so we ordered a small portion of 6 for MYR11.20

Then I saw this - seems like a new item on the menu - so I ordered a plate because I have a weakness for red bean.

Red Bean Rolls - MYR6.50 for two. Not oily at all and though it is sweet, it is not very, very, very sweet so eating one piece should be fine, not cloying at all. The total bill came up to MYR47.20 after 10% service charge and 6% government tax including a cup of bottomless hot chinese tea (MYR2.50) that only one of us drank.

Fully occupied for brunch on Sunday until we had to ask for the tea and ginger condiment when there were no signs of them long after all our main food were served.

    1. No queue when I was there due to fast in and out. This Din Tai Fung is from Taiwan where everyone is very courteous, not rude at all and this is authentic because I have eaten at their Taipei 101 outlet. Where did the rude and authentic come from? *I am puzzled*

    1. There are more than two pieces. Tendon is 2 pieces, meat with tendon 1 piece, normal meat 2 pieces so altogether 5 pieces so it is not that expensive.

    1. Can't wait to read your post. I think I know which one you are talking about - the one in Pavilion next to the yakitori buffet place.

  7. I have a weakness for red bean too!

I like how you and your friend hang out, you watch her (or is it him?) eat, and then he watch you eat. Must be very close friends, else I think will paiseh to do like this.

    1. You do? Then you must make some red bean desserts for yourself. It is good this way, both will get to eat what they want to eat, hehehe.

    1. These beef tendons are braised until they are so soft that even people without any teeth also can eat them. :)

    1. We shall see. :) I find their fried rice not soft enough for me. I prefer food to be soft.

  12. Everything here is really my favourite!!

Maybe I only eat lesser beef nowadays. As I aged, I developed funny new allergies to my usual food which gave me no problems in the past. Now I would itch badly eating dried squids, certain crabs and beef! A doctor advised that human's immunity drops when they get older esp those who were heavy drinkers before. Sobs!!

    1. For health reasons, better to eat less meat when growing older, that's what I heard too.
