Jollie Bean

Bought 5 packs of this classic soy pudding for MYR19.50 making it MYR3.90 each, just to get another one free due to the buy-5-get-1-free promotion. Sweet and firm almost like agar-agar.

Bought a pack of 6 rolls with red bean and peanuts fillings for MYR4.50

I like the ones with peanut fillings. Red bean fillings are too sweet.

No idea what this is called. See photo below.

Bought one with cream cheese (slightly sweet) fillings for MYR3 and I like it because it reminds me of "pak tong gou" (literal translation - white sugar cake or also referred to as steamed white cake or steamed rice cake) with its slight yeast taste. Will eat this again though there are other fillings as well but I will stick to this.

  4. Yummy, I like eating this kinda 'kudap-kudap' thingy.. Puddings, red bean peanut rolls, crepes or pancake, ooooo and the cream cheese oozing out at the last picture, hou sik!

  5. so the soy pudding is nothing like taufufa which is smooth and soft?? the rolls look interesting, they look like pancake spread with a layer of the filling and then roll up.. i would like to try that.. and the last one, "pak tong go" with cream cheese??? hahaha, that's rather fusion, and since you say you will like to have this again, i bet this is nice..

  6. You make me wanna try it, I always ignore this stall when I saw it.

I like red bean paste, but I agree, some of them add too much sugar unnecessarily..

  7. From my earlier review, you'd know that I'm a fan of the soy pudding only....and nothing else!

    1. Yes, I read your post, that is why I tried it but then you did not eat this cream cheese item. This one tastes really good - that is if you like pak tong kou.

    2. Oh, oh, now I remember, you do not like cheese so no go then. I forgot what the other fillings are but I don't think they will be as nice as cream cheese.

    3. You mean the cream cheese tastes like pak tong kou? Isn't that made with white sugar and ma lai kou with brown sugar? I've eaten both but prefer ma lai kou.

    4. Not the cream cheese itself but the "dough" of the "cake" taste like the yeast taste of pak tong kou. Ma Lai Kou taste is predominantly of alkaline but Pak Tong Kou taste is predominantly of yeast.

    5. Of course the Ma Lai Kou will also have the fragrant brown sugar taste.

    1. I heard it is even nicer if you heat it up a bit first.

  12. Soy pudding? Tofu fua kah? I'd stick to the roadside stall ones - cheap and nice. Are those rolls deep fried? I think I'd go for the peanut too...and the cheese, not really into sweet deep fried stuff.

    1. Not soft like tofufa. No, not deep fried and it is not that sweet.
