Teluk Intan Rice Rolls

Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fun - 2 rolls for MYR2 each so this plate costs MYR4. I am not sure whether the lady of the stall made this rice rolls herself or bought it from another vendor. I prefer to eat Chee Cheong Fun that is a bit on the soft side, this one is on the springy side so not to my liking.

Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fun has bits of food pieces embedded in it. According to this post, the food pieces are dried shrimps, diced jicama, and shallots but those that I ate above did not seem like diced jicama and I can't tell what they were. I have not eaten the very popular Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fun made by Liew Kee (Ah Lek) which is sold in Teluk Intan itself so I can't compare between this and that.

Actually I went to Hai Keng Coffee Shop in Section 14, PJ (near Digital Mall) to eat the plain Chee Cheong Fun sold by an old man that I ate a few days before but ended up eating Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fun from another stall.

This is the plate of Chee Cheong Fun (MYR3) that I ate a few days before and like it a lot because it is very soft (just the way I like it) so I went back on Monday but the stall was closed. From what I read on other blogs, this is considered  old school Ipoh style Chee Cheong Fun as it is served plain with just a choice of sweet sauce, chili or pickled green chili.

Hai Keng Coffee Shop

Hakka noodle with "sam kan chong" pork meatballs - MYR5. My friend said that the pork meatballs were passable only and that the Hakka noodle was very garlicky so I think it was drizzled with garlic oil. I will need to go back here again for the Chee Cheong Fun.

  1. I like our normal ccf, with curry soup, hehehehe.. But when I'm not feeling well and mouth feels bland, I will opt for the ones in sweet sauce..

  4. I'm curious to try the Teluk Intan ccf too. Saw it on TV and was drooling over it. Over here, ccf is not popular and can only be found in Hong Kong char chan teng and their style is also very different - with peanut sauce. Quite nice!

    1. There is another coffee shop in PJ seapark that has a stall that sells Teluk Intan ccf that tastes nicer from 4pm onwards. Maybe you can give it a try.
