WG Vegetarian Bak Chang

Set Lunch at Medifoods, SS2, PJ with dishes of my choice at MYR 13.80 nett with no mayo on the raw julienned cabbage. The foc papaya and jicama is to be shared by 3 pax.

FOC Medifoods Tofu Fa with a minimum nett spend of RM15 from now to 31 Aug 2019 using a specific payment card. My friend said that it was the smoothest and tastiest tofu fa she has ever eaten.

The next day, my friends ate lunch at Medifoods again so this time I bought a vegetarian glutinous rice dumpling for MYR 5.30 nett.

From outside, it looks like the usual dumplings but without the meat and fatty bits. I expect it to have goat peas, chestnuts and mushrooms which it does have.

To my surprise, there is a piece of "fake" meat - tastes ok. The glutinous rice is soft so I like it and the taste is more on the sweet side - like sweet "mui choy". Next time I may try the vegetarian glutinous rice nyonya dumplings and also the vegetarian millet nyonya dumplings.

The taufu fa is out of stock so my friend need to go to Medifoods again this week to claim it.

The ingredients for this vegetarian dumpling that I bought. The name is misleading as although it is a savoury dumpling but it is not that salty.

Mushy Fillings

MeeHoon with 2 toppings at MYR 10.90+ 10% service charge = MYR 11.99 nett. My friend told me that the deep fried wantons are tasty so I chose it as one of the toppings only to find out that the fillings are mushy when I bite into one. My friend said the fillings are mayo tuna but it does not taste like tuna, it could be chicken or pork meat shredded finely and mixed with mayo. The mayo taste drowns out every other taste so the mush could be cardboard for all I know. The other topping is a piece of lemongrass porkchop.

If one chooses mee hoon, hor fun or yellow noodles, there is no need for extra charges. My friend selected instant noodles so she has to fork out an additional MYR2+ (MYR 2.20 nett). Imagine needing to pay extra for instant noodles which one can easily cook at home.

HK feel?

HK Boy Cart Noodle, SS2, PJ. I have only been to the branch at Pavilion.

Lunch and Dinner

Lunch for 2 pax at Wonton Pho at Jalan Lazat 2, Happy Garden/OUG Garden. Beef Pho at MYR 15.90 nett and spring roll (Goi Cuon) at MYR 8.50 nett.

We also ordered dry Wonton Noodle with Char Siew and Wontons at MYR 9.90 nett to take home for dinner which turned out to be very salty so no more takeaways from this eatery.

Best Pork Ribs Ever

After reading PH's post about the delicious and juicy Iberico Pork Ribs (half rack, MYR 85.00 nett), we just had to try it and after eating it, we now declare that it is the best meaty pork ribs we have ever eaten. It is tender but unlike yesterday's back ribs which can be turned into pulled pork easily, it is not falling apart at the slightest touch but retains its firmness and springiness. We like the taste of the slightly tart dip too.

Of the 4 types of paella dish available: 1. Valenciana 2. Squid Ink 3. Iberico Pork 4. Vegetarian (need to pre-order), we decided to have two portions of Paella Valenciana because all of us like seafood and did not want to try the rest. It did not disappoint, the flavour of the sea is strong and tasty though I wonder would there be  people who do not like this taste.

Close up - MYR 37 nett. I must say that the sea flavour of this paella tastes better than the one I had recently.

We also ordered deep fried squid at MYR 25 nett so that we would have something to snack on during the 30 minutes wait for the pork ribs and paella. Tasty and fresh, tender, not rubbery at all. The aioli dip has garlic bits in it so it has a very strong garlic taste.

Spanish Omelette - MYR 22 nett. There is another version of Spanish Omelette with Chorizo at a price which is just a bit higher.

Spanish Omelette has potatoes in it and it is fluffy compared to some spanish omelette which are dense.

Complimentary crisp crusty bread. Warm or cold drinking water was also served on the house (foc).

Hot Chamomile Tea at MYR 9 nett and Hot Flat White Coffee at MYR 12 nett.

The total bill is MYR 227 nett so it is lower than the previous tapas lunch that I had because this one does not charge service charge so if you are in KL and want to have tapas, this is the place to go to. Thanks to PH's info, we knew that the parking fee is MYR 5.00 nett for the first 3 hours if we eat at this restaurant so we parked at the building itself and did not need to walk the long walkway.

Nice metal design decor hanging from the ceiling. The interior is bright and airy from natural light through the huge glass windows.

Open kitchen where you can watched your paella being cooked.

Drinks counter.

Back Ribs Pavilion

Baby back ribs at MYR 52++ (MYR 60.32 nett after 10% service charge and 6% SST). Baby back ribs refer to the back ribs that are taken from the top of the rib cage, near to the spine and close to the loin so it is more tender. It has nothing to do with baby pigs. The highlight of this dish is of course the 3 sticks of back ribs but the fries and caramelised onions are tasty too. The coleslaw has a bit too much mayo but both of us managed to finish it. The back ribs are on the sweet side and the meat just fall off the bone and we can easily make pulled pork from the meat.

Big big breakfast at MYR 29++ (MYR 33.64 nett). Compared to the previous time we ate this at the Tropicana City Mall outlet in Dec 2017, this dish has green vegetables in it. Instead of spinach, it was green amaranth (yin choy) which I like to eat but the strong greenish taste does not go that well with the other items in this big breakfast so we prefer spinach. Overall, everything taste great so we will always order this dish when we eat at any outlets of this restaurant.

The flat white (coffee) is MYR 9++ (MYR 10.71 nett) and with the buy 1 get 1 free promotion, we get another cup of flat white. We use a MYR 50 voucher for this bill and only pay MYr 54.40 nett.

Pigs & Wolf restaurant at Pavilion Mall. I wonder why they use a different name and not just use "three little pigs and the big bad wolf " as the name.

WG Vermicelli Vege Mix

I did not order my default dish, Pork Chop Rice at MYR 16.89++ (MYR 19.60 nett) at Pho Vietz, One Utama. Instead I had spring roll and pork chop dry vermicelli (thick mee hoon) with lots of raw vegetables such as raw beansprout (taugeh), cucumbers, lettuce, basil and pickled carrots at MYR 14.06++ (MYR 16.30 nett after 10% service charge and 6% SST). A sweet and sour fish sauce is provided to mix into the vermicelli but I returned it immediately when it was put on the table and the staff was so surprised. I guess he does not understand how anyone could eat this dish without any sauce but I like it this way without any sauce.

Total Bill for 4 pax: MYR 58.80 nett. Average price spent per pax is about MYR 14.70 nett.

WG New Crack Pork Uptown

My friends and I went to the new Crack Pork eatery at Damansara Uptown for their weekday lunch sets which consist of a main dish and a glass of hot or cold lemon tea.

Char Siew Rice Lunch Set at MYR 14.90 nett. My friend said that the julienned carrot and daikon are only slightly pickled so they are not very appetising and the raw lettuce could do with a dressing. I tested a piece of the char siew and found it acceptable - soft and sweet.

Siew Yoke Aglio Olio Lunch Set at MYR 19.90 nett. My friend's comment is that the pasta is undercooked, it is not al dente because it is not firm to the bite, it is hard, almost uncooked. She left most of it uneaten.

Salted Egg Yolk Pork Pasta Lunch Set at MYR 19.90 nett. Unlike the aglio olio pasta which is too hard, this pasta is just nice to the bite. My two friends who shared this pasta said that luckily they decided to share this dish because although the salted egg yolk gravy is tasty, it is easy to get satiated due to the creaminess if one ate more than a few forkfuls.

Siew Yoke Baguette Lunch Set at MYR 17.90 nett. I finished the fries for my friend who ate just one segment of the baguette and left one segment behind. She finds the baguette a bit on the hard side and the siew yoke inside oily.

Smoked Duck Breast Charcoal Baguette Lunch Set at MYR 24.90 nett. This is an option for those who do not want to eat pork.

This is my order - pork ribs (6 sticks) from the ala carte menu - MYR 22.90 nett. I did not order from the lunch set menu because after looking through it, nothing caught my eyes because I have been to Crack Pork in Kota Damansara in Nov 2017 twice before they closed down and much prefer the previous menu. Furthermore, I don't want to eat any fatty bits so pork ribs meal is the safest choice.

This is after I gave 2 sticks of ribs to my friend. I like the taste of the marinate (BBQ spice honey) but would prefer there be more meat on the ribs.

Total bill is MYR 120.40 nett for 6 pax. Average price of about MYR 20.06 per pax.

Interior which looks more like a pub with its dark colours as compared to the previous light and airy coffee cafe decor.

Dark Exterior - located next to dal.komm coffee cafe.

I ordered this pork ribs without adding any sides for MYR 1 nett.

Page 1 of the 3-page lunch set menu: Rice with four types of pork - porchetta, char siew, siew yoke or tung yang pork (whatever this is).

Baguette and Mantou Lunch Set.

Pasta Lunch Set which includes Curry Siew Yoke and Prawn Laksa which may be worth a try but since it is too much for me alone, I did not order it.
