Kagoshima Kurobuta

On Saturday 11.jun.22, went out to buy food despite the drizzle.

Went to Choy Kei coffee shop and bought:
1. Hot hainan drink MYR 3.3
2. 1 kway teow 3jc and 2 mihun 3jc MYR 22.50 price increased from MYR 6.50 to MYR 7.50 nett. One pack of mihun 3jc is for the Elderlies.
3. 4 egg tarts, 1 siew Bao, 1 kaya puff MYR 2.3 x 6 eq MYR 13.80 nett

Walked to Mr Farmer Grocer a few doors away to buy vege to cook with the remaining bkt bought yesterday.

10.26 am - Wanted to buy Wawa vegetables but it was sold out so bought the above little gem lettuce instead. Thought it was MYR 9.50 per pack. My mistake. MYR 9.50 is per kg so this small pack of small Romaine lettuce costs MYR 2.30 nett.

Saw this frozen Kagoshima Kurobuta pork meat being sold by mammy grocer. Online search says:

"Kurobuta – which means black pig in Japanese – is better known as Berkshire pork in the English-speaking world. The juicy pork comes from the same type of pig; an old English breed, distinctively black, with white feet and snout."

"Kurobuta pigs fed on these sweet potatoes gain the distinctive clean-flavored fatty meat so beloved by fans. Kagoshima's warm and pleasant weather is also essential to raising kurobuta piglets. Thanks to this combination of factors, kurobuta has become a brand name for pork unique to Kagoshima."

"Kurobuta (aka Berkshire) Pork is a heritage breed prized for its luxurious marbling, making it much more flavorful, tender, and moist compared to conventional pork."

After reading the above search results, maybe we will buy some frozen Kagoshima Kurobuta pork meat when he wants to cook some pork dishes to try out.

Then went to Swee Hing coffee shop and bought:
1. Pork yimi soup MYR 8
2. Hand torn pan Mee soup MYR 8

Wanted to buy ckt for the Elderlies but the stall is off for this day so I walked to BC&S coffee shop at the far corner and bought petai ckt mixed yellow noodles MYR 11 nett.

10.48 am - this is the petai ckt stall at BC&S coffee shop.

*** Sweet & Savoury Dumplings ***

Saw a bak Chang make shift stall by the roadside opposite Choy Kei coffee shop so went to buy some bak changs.

1 pm - savoury bak Chang MYR 7.50 nett. Tied with non plastic strings.

The glutinous rice in this bak Chang is very soft until all the rice bits are fused together.

For MYR 7.50 nett, it has mung beans, chest nut, lean pork, fatty pork aka the white piece of lard in the photo above, mushrooms, salted egg yolk and dried tiny shrimps aka har mi. Bulk discount of 50 cents - buy 3 at MYR 22 so we bought 3 and gave 1 to the Elderlies.

1.24 pm - sweet Kee Chang with red bean fillings at MYR 2.50 for 1 but MYR 9 for 4 with some bulk buy discounts so bought 4 and gave 2 to the Elderlies.

This Kee Chang is very dense.

Red bean fillings.
