WG Thai Hou Sek

I have seen this eatery at One Utama but have never eaten there so when it opened a branch in Midvalley Mall at LG (in the previous place where McD was), my friend and I went there for lunch.

Siu Yuk (Roast Pork) Fried Rice - MYR 22 nett. The portion of rice is not that big so I suspect it may not be enough for big eaters.

My order - Pad Thai Seafood - MYR 22 nett. It is more expensive than the Pad Thai set lunch (MYR 18.40 nett) that I ate at Mhera-33 a few weeks ago. Although that set lunch included soup, drink and dessert, it does not have any meat in the pad thai whereas this pad thai has 3 prawns, a lot of squid and 3 slices of pork belly bacon so it is up to you to decide which one is more worth it.

The prawns have a firm texture and seemed fresh but have a slight tap-water-taste to it. I would describe the tap-water-taste as a slight chlorine taste so while this pad thai is tasty, the prawns would deter me from ordering it again.

Total Bill for 2 pax = MYR 44 nett.

The interior is nicely decorated.

Quite a popular place during lunch time. Perhaps it is because it just opened a few weeks ago.

  4. I must try the one at 1-U which is just next door to Wondermama. Your order of pad thai seafood looks good.

    1. Don't think it qualifies to be in the classy category.

  7. Pad Thai for a change but our CKT is still the best! I think I will like the fried rice with roast pork with the Thai cili sauce.

    1. Both are very similar but with different sauce. I believe you can fried a scrumptious roast pork fried rice yourself.

  8. Oh such a shame that the prawn has chlorine taste to it. I can't stand such taste as I am used having clean, filtered water at home.

    1. Maybe I can super sensitive to that taste. Some people I know are fine with that taste.

  9. I haven't tried the outlet in 1U either. The pad thai does look pretty good - it's something I classify as "difficult to cook", so I'd happily order this.

    1. I agree with you so I will always order pad thai and not fried rice because my spouse cooks fried rice at home.
