RG and
Stacy told me about this McD pie in their comments for the
McD Cendol Sundae so I went and tried it since the last pie I had was the
Tropical Pie 4 months ago. The price for this pie is higher at MYR3.50 nett as compared to MYR2.90 nett for the tropical pie.
Bubur Cha Cha is a dessert where sweet potatoes cubes, yam cubes and sago are swimming in a sweet coconut milk broth so this pie is a simplified version of the dessert in pie form. A good attempt because the taste is somewhat there.
The fillings in this McD Bubur Cha Cha pie are yam or taro cubes coated in coconut milk sauce (santan). I find it rather dry because the coconut milk sauce is just enough to cover the yam cubes. The good thing is that this pie is full of yam cubes unlike in the previous pies where there are very few pieces of actual fruit and lots of gooey sauce. This time it is the opposite, no gooey sauce, just enough coconut milk sauce to cover many taro cubes and some may like it more because of this.
The pie in its casing
Costs MYR3.50 nett
Oh I was not aware of this. Shall try it this weekend then. I tried the cendol sundae. So so only for me.
ReplyDeleteI was also not aware of this until RG and Stacy mentioned it.
DeleteMcD has introduced a lot of new stuff lately, I din't even try yet... :(
ReplyDeleteNo need to try if you are not a fan of McD pie.
DeleteOh? They're going Asian fusion now, eh?
ReplyDeleteThey are definitely trying out new and fancy names!
DeleteDont know about this pie. Seldom try McD's pie.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of their pie? Then no need to try. :)
DeleteI saw this in McD yesterday when I was getting the kids their nuggets meal.. Didn't try.. But am interested to try the cendol cone though..
ReplyDeleteGood to see you here again. Miss you! I think it is better to try the cendol sundae cone than this one.
DeleteSo how? You didn't say whether you like it or not. I mean, like it more than other McD pies or not.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the original McD apple pie because I find this too dry for me.
DeleteI love bubur cha cha to death...but in a pie? @_@
ReplyDeleteMaybe too dry for you when it is in a pie.
DeleteOh, I did not know about this pie. I might like it.
ReplyDeleteGame to try? :p
DeleteDon't patron Mc Donalds often. Normally if we do go, the kids would take nuggets and fries ( unhealthy I know) and ice-cream. I may just try this pie since I too don't fancy anything from mcD and don't really know what to order.
ReplyDeleteDon't fancy McD then no need to try because most likely you won't like it I guess.
DeleteSince it is full of yam cubes, I might like it. I hope it is not too sweet. So do you like it?
ReplyDeleteIt is not too sweet but I find it a bit on the dry side so I prefer the original McD apple pie.
DeleteInteresting find, Mun! I thought you were gonna post some desserts, so I was surprised to see a pie. Have a wonderful week, my dear! xoxo
ReplyDeleteRG and Stacy told me about it because I didn't notice it on my own. Thanks! You have a good week too!
DeleteLooks good, I like bur bur cha cha, SG Mac's pies do not have so many varieties
ReplyDeleteThis is a once off promotion and won't be available after this promotion period.
DeleteHehe funny that you find it dry. Well compared to real bubur chacha guess it's dry. I thought it was wet coz I was comparing to apple pie.
ReplyDeleteThe one you ate got a lot of sauce? Mine has just enough sauce to cover the yam cubes so it was dry unlike the apple pie which has lots of sauce. Maybe their pies are not consistent.
DeleteMcD must be standard. I thought it was wetter than normal but now that you ask, I am not so sure haha. But I won't want to pay rm3.50 for another such pie.
DeleteHahaha, I also will not buy another one of this. Another time will buy the next new promo flavour.
