Red Lobster at Intermark

We have a pre-birthday celebration for one of our 4-person lunch sharing group last week.

The mains of MYR39.90 nett and MYR89.90 nett sets. Fish (seabass) and chips - at first we ordered ala carte fish and chips that costs MYR38.xx and the waiter was kind enough to suggest that we take the set instead which includes a soup and a dessert. The other main is salmon and lobster tail. We asked for no salt for the salmon and lobster tail but forgot to ask for no salt for the chips so the chips were sprinkled with salt to our dismay and we have to shake the salt off before eating the chips. Lobster tail was cooked just right so it was juicy and tender.

Coconut shrimp for sharing MYR26.90 nett. At first we ordered solo MYR15.90 but the waiter told us that for solo, there would be only 3 shrimps so the price per shrimp was lower if we ordered the portion for sharing so we did. The shrimp was crispy and succulent but I don't like that it is sweet. The yogurt dip has coconut flakes in it and it is sweet too. I prefer both to be savoury and the dip to be sourish.

The two mushroom soups come with the set. Very creamy with lots of mushroom bits in them so they were nice to drink. We ordered ala carte a cup of Lobster Bisque - MYR13.90 nett - taste full of the sea but we find it a tad too salty for our liking..

I ordered a strawberry milk shake - MYR12.90 - I believe it is just strawberry ice cream blended with ice cubes so it is acceptable.

A cup of Flat White - MYR8.90 nett - the coffee taste is strong enough, not diluted like some other places.

A cup of Earl Grey - MYR8.90 nett - enough to clear the palate. Not recommended for those who do not like the taste of herbs.

Complimentary biscuits - they gave us 5 and this is the main reason I ate here because I read how good they are. I was surprised by how soft they were. The taste that came to mind when I took a bite is milk powder. My friends find them too salty.

The desserts that came with the set - Brownies and Vanilla ice cream. I forgot to take a photo before they were eaten. That's why the photo above looks like that. Full of chocolate taste, not overly sweet so they were nice. If we were not that full they would taste nicer to us.

The bill with no service charge which is very nice and the prices shown are nett prices inclusive of the 6% GST so that means about MYR50 each.

We turned the bill over and saw the word secret recipe so it means that both eateries are under the same corporate group.

For those who would want to eat steak and lobster, I think it is better to go to Quill City Mall because the Red Lobster there has its own steak house next to it. The parking fee at Intermark during the weekend is MYR5 per entry which is very affordable because you can eat as slowly as you like without worrying about paying a hefty parking bill. If one spends MYR30 per bill in Jaya Grocer supermarket, the first 2 hours of parking is free of charge and it ended up with us not having to pay any parking fees.

I think we may visit this place again for our next celebration because the ambiance is very cosy and the service is good - a waiter introduced himself to us and he was the dedicated one serving our table of 4 for the whole meal without being intrusive. Did not expect this eating trip to turn out so well.

  5. Reasonably-priced. The word lobster gives me the impression that it would cost a bomb. Sure would want to give this place a try - bet my girl would love that salmon and lobster main. Dunno where on earth Intermark is though - never been there.

    1. Intermark is where the old Yow Chuan plaza and crown princess hotel are. Near Ampang Park. The live lobsters are expensive.

  8. Hmm, I'm surprised to find you here coz I remember you saying you don't usually go to this part of town. I'm glad that you enjoyed your meal there coz if you've read my post on this place, you'd realise that it got quite a bit of bashing in terms of the food, service...even the biscuits which I didn't quite agree either!

You found the coconut shrimps sweet coz they were coated in coconut flakes. I didn't try the soups, nice eh? You liked the biscuits? You could have asked for seconds...as many as you want! The price is cheap for you but not me coz we don't share mains...wakakaka...so it'll be double the spending! You didn't try the LIVE lobsters?

    1. I asked everyone to read your post before we agree to make a special trip there. I thought you asked for another helping for the biscuits because you like them? We also.ordered the coconut.shrimps based on your post. The mushroom soup is nicer than some other places. I didn't order live lobsters because you wrote that they will be man handled.

    2. Oh, I think you misread my comments. Let me rephrase...what I meant was the place got a bit of bashing in terms of food and service (even the biscuits) from other bloggers...not me! And yes, I love them biscuits!

*Blush Blush* thanks for checking my comments before venturing there. I'm glad your eating trip turned out well (now you must go to some others which I gave raving reviews) :D I thought the dip for the coconut shrimps is a pina colada sauce with a bit of a tang from the pineapple? Still too sweet for you, huh.

    3. Oh so you mean others. Thanks for clarifying this. I always check your posts before going anywhere because you give a lot of details. I couldn't detect the pineapple tang.

  9. Hmm no gravy on the food... with kids I look for wet-ish food. If I order them drinks they'd just slurp up the drinks and be too full for food heh. There's a Red Lobster that just opened in Curve, I believe.

  11. What the... your group all same like you ah?? No salt on the chips... I don't think I can dine with your gang! >.<

I'm glad that you got good service, that kind of personal attention is the norm if you dine in restaurants in the US, seems like the bucked up their services after settling down.

    1. The waiters are all from Philipines. If you eat with us you can sprinkle salt into your food because there is a salt shaker with salt at each table.

    1. We requested them not to put salt for the fish and lobster tail so the fish and the lobster is ok, not very salty.

  16. I always sighed when I hear this Lobster outlet which I have to miss. I loved Lobsters all my life until I developed skin allergies to it few years ago. Must be my old age catching up and dropped immunity. Luckily I can still eat as much big prawns with little or no problem but not Lobsters. Even a small bowl of Lobster Bisque @ Delifrance sent me scratching like a monkey after that. I thought the soup was safe but no. I am still wondering what is so different inside the bodies of the shrimp and lobsters! LOL

    1. Are you taking any medications? Sometimes medications can cause itchiness when you eat lobsters.
