Apey New Year at IPC (Ikano Power Centre) Shopping Centre
Can you spot the bananas?
At first I wonder why IPC designed these 5 monkey characters with its own wooden statue.
Please click on the image above to enlarge it to find out who these 5 monkeys are.

IPC's CNY decorations do not look very interesting from a top view but I think it is the best because it educates us through the monkeys to take good care of the earth. Very good work by IPC's decor team!
I did not get the chance to visit IPC to see their CNY decor. It was rather a busy time for me before CNY so I missed out on many malls.
ReplyDeleteHappy Chap Goh Mei to you Mun :)
Thank you! Hope you and your family had a good time celebrating Chap Goh Mei.
DeleteHaha! This is really educational indeed. I actually just found out a few years ago that there were different types of zodiac animals e.g. metal, wood. I thought it was just one previously.
ReplyDeleteThose are the 5 elements.
DeleteYep, today is 15th.. Sure got fireworks tonight one.. This year no chance go shopping malls see CNY deco..
ReplyDeleteNext year you can go to see CNY decor with baby Sherman.
DeleteHappy Chap Goh Meh.. i would think the 5 monkeys represents the 5 elements of the Chinese.. Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth.. i'll be there for a lunch meeting later, can go there and take a look :)
ReplyDeleteSo is the display still there? It says until 21 Feb 2016 only.
DeleteThe Chap Go Meh started with a bang with fireworks going off near my office. Those decorations are very informative.
ReplyDeleteNear your office, should be lion dance with fireworks for the last time I think.
DeleteBut ah.. if it is not interesting, then most people will ignore the decorations without reading. Not very effective then...
ReplyDeleteIPC also held some activities on recycling for children on various days so hopefully some people did notice the notes about recycling (like I did).
DeleteOh..that's nice. Didn't get to visit this mall but we went to One U and Sunway Pyramid to shop.
ReplyDeleteI seldom go to Sunway Pyramid but I know their decoration is very nice.
DeleteGreat pick & everything's so pretty! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThe IPC decor team would be happy to hear this. :)
DeleteHappy Chap Goh Meh to you and your loved ones. Lovely monkeys, great that the people took the opportunity to convey some messages for a good cause. Sure makes it a lot more meaningful.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Hope you and your family had a good Chap Goh Mei celebration. This decor is really with a good difference.
DeleteWah so much thought went into it. Maybe a bit too high-brow for most people!
ReplyDeleteHopefully not since recycling concerns everyone.
DeleteHappy Chap Goh Meh, Mun... after today, the decorations have to come down... till the next year comes again!
ReplyDeleteTill next year!
Deletethis festivity reminds me of those fun activities we have when visitin a mall in Chinatown... They feature 8 lucky rituals for CNY and I tried them all hehe
ReplyDeleteGood that you went to Chinatown to experience CNY festive mood.
DeleteVery educational, I like.
ReplyDeleteGood! :)
DeleteThey are able to link the five elements to the five conservation ideas, nice! At first I was wondering how does "fire" element link to conservation and environmental friendly, now I know it links to energy saving
ReplyDeleteYes, they are very creative in this sense!
