Educational CNY decor

Today is the last day of the CNY celebrations so here's wishing Happy Chap Goh Mei to those celebrating it.

Apey New Year at IPC (Ikano Power Centre) Shopping Centre

Can you spot the bananas?

At first I wonder why IPC designed these 5 monkey characters with its own wooden statue.

Please click on the image above to enlarge it to find out who these 5 monkeys are.

Papa JinXu (Metal Monkey) encourages you to recycle metal. IPC even made a wooden figure of Papa JinXu as can be seen at the left of the photo above.

About recycling metal

Mama Tutti (Earth Monkey) encourages you to plant trees - see the mama monkey smiling so sweetly on the bottom right of the photo above.

Benefits of planting trees.

Please save energy - says Big Brother, the Fire Monkey

About saving energy

Please conserve water - says Sister Shweedy (Water Monkey)

Easy ways to conserve water

Please recycle paper - says Little Brother, the Wood Monkey

How to recycle papers

IPC's CNY decorations do not look very interesting from a top view but I think it is the best because it educates us through the monkeys to take good care of the earth. Very good work by IPC's decor team!

  1. I did not get the chance to visit IPC to see their CNY decor. It was rather a busy time for me before CNY so I missed out on many malls.

Happy Chap Goh Mei to you Mun :)

  2. Haha! This is really educational indeed. I actually just found out a few years ago that there were different types of zodiac animals e.g. metal, wood. I thought it was just one previously.

  5. The Chap Go Meh started with a bang with fireworks going off near my office. Those decorations are very informative.

    1. Near your office, should be lion dance with fireworks for the last time I think.

  6. But ah.. if it is not interesting, then most people will ignore the decorations without reading. Not very effective then...

    1. IPC also held some activities on recycling for children on various days so hopefully some people did notice the notes about recycling (like I did).

  10. Wah so much thought went into it. Maybe a bit too high-brow for most people!

  13. They are able to link the five elements to the five conservation ideas, nice! At first I was wondering how does "fire" element link to conservation and environmental friendly, now I know it links to energy saving
