Cantin

I ordered Tom Yam Mee Siam with Curry Chicken - MYR10.90++ 6% GST and 10% service charge = MYR12.70 and the cup of coffee costs MYR3.90++ = MYR4.55 (not mine). I like this fried mee hoon because it is soft, quite moist and not very spicy. The sambal tastes a bit bitter like having coffee powder in it. The curry is very filling until I did not need to eat dinner after eating this for lunch.

Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Berempah - MYR10.90++ = MYR12.70 - the rice is a bit undercooked with hard rice bits in it but the fried chicken tastes good.

We were there at 11.45am without knowing that at 12 noon, there are lunch sets offering a selection of free drinks (barley, cincau, green tea) to go with the main dish. Add MYR2 for coffee so if we had waited another 15 mins, we could have saved MYR2.20. Perhaps we would be back for the lunch sets.

Value set during Tea Time.

Cantin at Midvalley, an alternative to Nyonya Colour if the latter is fully occupied and has a long queue.

  1. I loved the tom yam bihun at Nyonya Colours - this one looks really good too. Too bad the rice was undercooked. At that price, can't complain - get it replaced? Or opt for something else instead?

  5. Both dishes are my favourite comfort foods (with very reasonable prices for a mall like this)....this place warrants a trip to Mid Valley. Are they open by 10am?

    2. If there's any remote chance of me going to Mid Valley, it'll have to be in the morning (right after Sunday church) when there's no crowd and parking is easy to find! ;D

  6. But normally set lunch, the main's portion would be smaller. I guess it adds up to probably the same la.

  8. Both dishes look good except that you mentioned the sambal was bitter and the rice had hard bits. I'm guessing the cook may have burnt the sambal and when they scooped the rice, those stray dried ones got in too.

    2. Hahahahaha ya but maybe their name is two words joined together as in can and tin. Their wall is decorated with stacked up cans/tins.

    1. That's why I like to eat Mee Siam - because it is sourish.

  11. For a moment I thought you were in Railway Canteen in KD as they too serve Nasi Goreng Ayam Berempah. Next time I'm in MV I'll definitely want to try this. I love nasi lemak and wont mind trying new places. But I hope their rice wont be undercooked then.

    1. This is just nasi lemak, not nasi goreng. Do try.
