The menu
It says this is localised Taiwanese food..
..so the tagline M Origin
I have eaten very delicious braised beef with tendons in the meat like shown in the above picture in Taiwan so I was very tempted to order the above but I was afraid the beef will not be like that so I did not take the risk but ordered something else.
I ordered the above instead for MYR8.90+ 6% GST = MYR9.45 - the thick sauce has hidden the noodles.
Here are the noodles. There were tiny pieces of hard bits in the sauce so I had to eat carefully and avoid biting on them. I suspect those are bits of clove spice or aniseed that was chopped up and mixed into the sauce. The sauce is a bit spicy.
Spicy Stewed Dry Ramen. The chinese characters state Zha Jiang Mian (炸酱面) meaning “Fried Sauce Noodle". The main ingredient in the sauce is soy bean paste (tauchu).

Every thing looks so delicious especially the beef. Have beautiful week!
ReplyDeleteLooks can be deceiving!
DeleteHeh, you got more zha jiang sauce than the picture showed. Good deal hahaha!
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha you must be a very optimistic person.
DeleteI've seen the saucy noodles before. It looks delicious but I have yet to taste.
ReplyDeleteZha jiang mian is sold by Esquire Kitchen too.
DeleteCommented three times this morning & they all disappeared into thin air. Let me try again...
ReplyDeleteYeah!!! Made it! I was saying that the menu looks like a recipe book...and there is a place in Sabah that serves beef noodles with huge slabs of beet like that - we said they're like beef steaks...but not my favourite - I prefer the one at Kah Hiong. They have an outlet at Puchong now, also in Brunei, can go give it a try. Very nice, the KK one.
DeleteOh dear, I wonder what happened. Thanks for trying again. Will go try Kah Hiong once the lrt constructions at kotq damansara and puchong have completed.
DeleteWhy don't you like those thicker beef meat with tendon? They are braised until very soft.
DeleteIt's the overall taste that did not appeal to me, a bit towards Taiwan style...but neither here nor there. Very popular, a lot of people like it, the huge chunks of beef steaks are the main appeal, perhaps...but no, not my favourite.
DeleteI guess you don't like the spices that they use to braise the beef and to boil the soup into a dark colour.
DeleteI'm surprised you ordered this as I remember you saying you don't like your food with sauce.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. I don't. This is one instance where I eat to live so I chose the noodle item with the lowest price and higher value from the menu which turned out to be this.
Deletei didn't notice they put a small note "Malaysian Origin" under the name, or is it just recently?? anyway, i actually knew this restaurant is truly malaysian because the lady boss is the relative of one of my friend.. BTW, the photos on the menu surely look good.. :)
ReplyDeleteNot sure recent or not because only recently I ate at this place. Normally I avoid eating at Taiwan eateries here.
Delete炸酱面 is one of Taiwan's famous food right?
ReplyDeleteI believe so.
DeleteMy hubby will sure order that beef ramen..Anything with beef, he sure likes..
ReplyDeleteThen you must belanja your husband eat the beef noodle in Din Tai Fung. It is very nice!
DeleteI have been to a few Taiwanese restaurants around Klang Valley. I think the best I had still at Foong Lye.
ReplyDeleteFoong Lye is a cash only place so I seldom go there. Been there a few times a long time ago.
DeleteNot that fond of Taiwanese noodles. But that beef noodle looks good.
ReplyDeleteTaiwanese noodles cover many types and way of cooking. Which ones that you don't like?
Deletewhat is that thick sauce made of? Is that super spicy? The noodles looks really great
ReplyDeleteThe thick sauce is made of soy bean paste. It is only a little spicy.
DeleteI avoid Little Taiwan now coz the one in Avenue K isn't good. Probably other outlets are better.
ReplyDeleteI am not going to any of their outlets ever.
