Looks matter?

Teh Tarik Place at the Curve again.

Nasi Kerabu - MYR10.55 nett - good value.

Combo Set Lunch - 1 rice, 1 main, 1 vegetable, 1 glass of iced syrup for MYR10.90 nett since I chose mutton as the main. I chose brinjal (eggplant) as the vegetable and it was very, very salty but I finished it at the expense of my health just because I dislike wasting food.

  1. Ooooooo...nasi kerabu!!! I love that so so so much. We get it at one place here on Saturdays only but my girl, who used to love it a lot, has not been keen on going for it when she's home fro the weekends...so no nasi kerabu for quite a while now. Sobssss!!!!!!!! Cheaper here, around half the price and we get a lot more of the raw veg and stuff...but it is at a coffee shop, no class one.

    1. We also do not go out of our way to search for nasi kerabu to eat. Will order if we see it on the menu and it is value for money. There is even an eatery by the name of "House of Nasi Kerabu" here in KL. I have not tried it. To eat the best Nasi Kerabu, have to go to Kelantan and eat from the stalls there, I heard.

  2. I won't be able to resist nasi kerabu! Too bad about the brinjal. I would have left it alone if it was extremely salty even though I also don't like to waste.

    1. Maybe you won't find the brinjal too salty because I am used to eating food without any salt in them so my threshold for salty food is very low. I heard that the best nasi kerabu is in Kelantan. Do you know which stall?

  3. I like nasi kerabu...it's hard to find a stall that sells nasi kerabu unless if I go to Pasar Malam (which I seldom go)..

  5. Didn't complain about the brinjal?

    1. No because it could be only me that find it salty because I know some people have very high threshold for salty food so they won't find it salty.

  7. I love nasi kerabu. I used to eat it once in a while with my Malay colleagues when i was working. I am craving for it. If the brinjal is too salty, I wouldn't be able to eat it.

    1. If eat with a lot of rice, then the brinjal will not appear to be salty.

    1. Yellow rice is tumeric rice if I am not mistaken.

    1. This brinjal dish is nice just overly salty for me but if eaten with lots of rice, won't taste salty I guess.

  12. I like nasi kerabu because of the flavour of the herbs, especially the bunga kantan. Is that ayam masak merah with your kerabu? I usually have it with ayam percik if I choose to have chicken with it :)

    1. On the menu, it is stated as ayam percik for the nasi kerabu. As I did not eat the chicken, I ask my spouse what it was but he could not remember. I guess eat only, did not register. LOL!

  13. I would waste food if it is really to horrible to continue eating. Not due to physical health but mental health. If finishing the food puts me in extremely foul mood, I would not risk it.

    1. It was not that horrible, just that it was too salty for me. I guess if you eat a bit of the brinjal with 3 tablespoons of the plain rice, it would not taste salty then.
