Been to Bali?

This is another popular eatery at The Sphere, Bangsar South. During lunch time on working weekdays, I always see the place being fully occupied. This is because they have lunch sets about MYR11.50+ 6%GST for one main meal and one drink. I have eaten here twice and for both times I ordered the same dish from the ala carte menu because I could not bring myself to order their rice platters which are too huge for me to finish all on my own.

My order twice - Mee Jawa from the ala carte menu - MYR11.50+ 6% GST = MYR12.20 - an expensive noodle dish. Is it from Bali?

Balifeel at The Sphere. They have a website, are on facebook and state that they serve traditional Balinese cuisine. They even have a Jimbaran Seafood Platter (MYR26.50+) listed on their menu. I have not been to Bali but I have heard of the famous Jimbaran beach where tourists sit and eat seafood on the sand looking out at the sea and sunset. Since I have not been there, I would not be able to tell whether the food here is authentic or not.

MYR67.30 for 5pax

    1. They have a few branches. The portion of their platters should be huge enough for you, hehehehe.

  2. the RM11.50 set lunch seems a good deal, so it's actually ala carte item comes with a free drink?? I've been to Bali many years ago, I remember Jimbaran but not Mee Jawa, haha~~

    1. I think so but not all ala carte items are included in the set lunch. You are the few here who have been to Bali.

  8. I never been to Bali too. Thought of having honeymoon there but bombing and unstability caused us to think twice and end up having honeymoon in our beautiful Redang island. ^^

Not a big fan of Mee Jawa. It is pretty expensive. But look like business is a brisk here.

  9. Yep, been to Bali once. Had their famous satay babi and Ubud duck rice set, something like that.. The mee Jawa looks good, I like all kinds of noodles with thick creamy gravy..

  10. Mee Jawa is probably not from Jawa or Bali. Most people claim it is in fact a Malaysian dish. Strangely, unlike laksa or satay, I don't see any Indonesians whack us for claiming Mee Jawa as Malaysian, so I guess maybe it is true.

  11. If it is the feel of Bali, sure can;t beat our Payung Cafe here - a number of people I brought there said it reminded them of Bali, not that I know much of it...as I have never been there. The place sure is crowded, so I guess the food must be good.

But mee jawa? Didn't I read somewhere that despite the name, it originated in Malaysia, maybe the Minangkabau descendants of those who came over...but whatever it is, RM11.50 is like...WOWWWW!!!!

    1. I think other branches have more balu feel to them. The price is high but it is an air conded place.

    1. Ok only, acceptable. I was lazy to look through the menu again to choose another item so I ordered the same dish as the previous time here.

  13. yea, I went to Bali some 2 months ago and I sat on the beach in Jimbaran enjoying sunset and grilled seafood...nothing fantastic, jst ordinary seafood...but the sunset view could be better (it was cloudy that evening)...I think Mee Jawa is from pulau Jawa...

    1. Oh, then you could eat at this place and tell whether or not the food is authentic. It does seem like the name Jawa comes from Pulau Jawa.

    1. More or less alike but it has squid whereas the others do not have squid because of the difference in price.
