Dine in Honolulu Cafe

Previously we just bought egg tarts from Honolulu Cafe, Midvalley Mall as takeaways due to the queue. During the weekend before CNY, there was no queue as most people have gone back to their hometowns to celebrate CNY so we managed to get seats to have our brunch there.

Ordered 1 polo bao to try at MYR 2.95++ (10% service charge, 6% SST = MYR 3.42 nett).

Sweet crusty bun with a soft inside.

One can have this Polo Bao with butter or Ham and Cheese or Luncheon Meat with Fried Egg.

Char Hor Fun with Beef Slices at MYR 18.80++ (MYR 21.80 nett). Acceptable.

Roast Duck, Char Siew and Siew Yuk rice with soup of the day at MYR 20.80++ (MYR 24.13 nett). I was surprised to see the salted egg there. Also acceptable.

Baked Rice with Fish Fillet in Mushroom Cream Sauce - MYR 21.80 nett. The fish is too salty so won't be having this again.

We wanted to order the Baked Spaghetti but was told that the pasta was not available so we changed our order to baked rice.

Total Bill for 4 pax is MYR 81.45 nett. I think we will only be back to this eatery for the egg tarts.

  1. I would choose Luncheon meat with fried egg for the polo bao. Quite interesting to see salted egg instead of braised egg for the rice

  2. The polo bun really looks soft inside. Looks like...it is creamy?

  3. Why Honolulu? In the old days, a place with that name or Hawaii would most probably be a night club.

    1. this is a famous eatery in Hong Kong so I guess have to ask the Hong Kong HQ why it is named Honolulu.

    1. But I could not find out why it is so special after eating it.

  5. Guess the final verdict won't be great after all the 'acceptable's...
